It’s like when I see this picture. And look at it long enough.
I’d like to think I can “feel” that moment. Down to how cool the air was, the crisp bay air. The way it smells.
Sounds corny, but even the air has its own qualities and attributes that I enjoy.
The crowd going fucking nuts.
Beer and food not being overpriced and expensive.
… game at candlestick..
Now when I drive by… just cheap luxury condos that stare out blankly over the back of the bay, milquetoast and siliconified- looking in the direction of Santa Clara as if to say “we are not worthy, please come back”
I remember vividly watching this and continuing my hatred for the Cowboys! Go Niners! @16
Yeah I’m old I get it!
This was my first football memory. I was with my parents at my grandmother‘s apartment in Russian Hill and I remember my dad jumping off the couch into the air when Clark made the catch. We ended up partying outside, and my dad carried me on his shoulders down Polk Street high-fiving everybody
This is my first clear football memory too. My mom was the crazy Niners fan in the family and I remember her screaming louder than I had ever heard or have ever heard since.
Fuck the Cowboys!
I am an Eagles fan but remember that game and that play. Amazing!!!
Remember this like it was yesterday -I was 11, lived in the Bay Area (San Carlos). I was my dad’s favorite daughter because I loved football so much. lol 😆
Now live in KC…still a Niners Faithful. But can’t complain with the team here 😉
Side note when they played ea. other I said it was a win/win situation for me-just wanted a good game.
I know everybody says it, but on my mother’s soul, I was there on the 5 yard line in that end zone on the catch side. Skinny black usher lifted me up by my waist to the sky. Everyone was in tears. And then we almost lost that game if not for a TD saving tackle by Eric Wright on Drew Pearson.
❤️
lol this is what niners fans are posting?
I was 8 and a fan of the Cowboys because my Dad was, but I told him I would be a fan of whichever team won this game.
From this moment on, I’ve been FTTB.
Suffered through 2-14 seasons and shitty management for this glorious moment.
The NFC Championship was played the weekend the Wild Card round is starting.
God bless corporate greed!
I was right there in the stands of that end zone. 16 year old me got showered with beer, was deafened for a few days after. And I didn’t give a shit. There’s no description of the event that can give it the weight of that moment. All I remember is unadulterated joy and a sense of community that hasn’t been equalled since. I knew I had witnessed history. And here we are, nearly a quarter century and 5 SBs later. It’s way past time for number 6!
Don’t expect such heroics tomorrow.
This is the most iconic and memorable play for me as a 49ers fan.
This feels like the most memorable play in the history of the NFL even if the 49ers weren’t my hometown team.
I totally remember this. My parents made me go to church. And few dudes had a transistor radio in their ear. Then word spread pew by pew. We had moved from sf bay to Oklahoma where they were Dallas fans. So my dad (oil industry) and I were stoked and everyone else was bummed.
I was 3 months old. My grandfather would openly say that I was his favorite grandkid because they won the year I was born.
Christ I am old…..

And Vin Scully on air!
Damn I feel old…

Were you born after 1994? Yes quest for 6th after fucking 32+ years
I was born during this game. My father jokes that he never forgave my mother for making him miss the game 😂
I was in college. I bought my first television to watch this game. 13” screen. I had decided in the week before that I was no longer going to be a Lions fan after another embarrassing finish of the season. I had a legacy hate for Dallas, of course. When the 49ers beat Dallas that day, I swore my allegiance to the Niners and never looked back. In fact, four years later, I moved to San Francisco. Go Niners. 🤩🏈
