  1. This was **LAST YEAR’s** deadline.

    >“Sources say that Toronto actually offered a package built around Quickley and draft capital for Young before last February’s trade deadline and maintained a level of interest in Young this season. Yet sources say that the Hawks had no interest in a Quickley-headlined package given the future money he’s owed. The Hawks staunchly prioritized the ample flexibility they now have before the the Feb. 5 trade buzzer and possibly into free agency next summer by taking back CJ McCollum’s expiring $30.7 million salary as the key return in their Young deal.“

  2. His contract is also pretty shit and it’s for a long time. I’m glad we did this trade instead.

  3. Would have taken 3 picks or so and folks would be happy about it but the team would not be better off

  4. new CBA has made it so that a pick outside the lottery just isnt as valuable as 30 million dollars on cap space.

  5. Unless the hawks were getting 2 unprotected FRP’s in the 2030’s declining this was the right call. Quickly is just a CJ level player on a dogshit contract.

  6. He gets paid more than Jalen lmao it would take 3? Unprotected firsts for me to take that contract at least

  7. Interesting note here especially in the light of TOR stealing Ingram for us.

Wonder if the lack of our own pick last year pushed this decision more

  8. Also says

“Atlanta could explore whether Memphis is willing to entertain talks involving Jaren Jackson Jr.”

But that is conjecture not sourced.

  9. If you’re willing to pay IQ $30 million plus but not wanting to pay Trae $50 million, you really shouldn’t be running a basketball team.
