It’s Confirmed…

Marcel Martin breaks down the report stating that the Dallas Mavericks may be forced to keep Anthony Davis due to his recent injury and limited trade interest. He explains how Davis’ health situation has complicated Dallas’ plans and narrowed their options moving forward. Marcel also discusses what this means for the Mavs’ short-term strategy — and whether committing to AD is now unavoidable.

  1. At this point, the Mavs should not make any trades unless the player wants to leave (i.e. Klay perhaps). Keep Gaff, PJ, and Naji. Things to look for moving forward: Development of Coop, Max, and Nemby…Lottery position…GM hire.

  2. Ngl reason why AD gets injured is bc nobody helps him outside of Flagg if AD got some help from his teammates that wouldn't have happened just the same way Kyrie torn his ACL bc he had to carry the Mavs hardcore when his teammates were injured and guys on the floor didn't help him at all.

  3. assume AD and Kyrie can start healthy in the new season and play without distraction as a starter and Cooper in his 2nd season improves. The duo of Gafford and Lively returns to health as well. So we need health to be assumed for 4 guys that have suffered major injuries. LOL yeah that is a big assumption but if it happened we would be one bad ass team assuming AD can come back and be his dominant self.

  4. AD screwed the pooch he is not getting paid again he is on the downward spiral now and will hit free agency after his contract ends. Nobody else will want him by then because his lack of reliability means he is not worth the risk so we will have the advantage in resigning him for less money so YIPPEE.

  5. If tanking becomes a option after these next 10 games to go with no AD and no Kyrie return then do it.

Trades for D-Lo, Klay, Caleb Martin, Hardy, and hopefully AD is a must this deadline.

Keep Naji,PJW, Gafford, and Lively as front court help for Flagg. Their strong young vets that can support Flagg in those physical trenches. Look for a Vet Young Guard that can space the floor for Flagg and play next to Kyrie to mentor. Draft another Guard in the draft to be a running mate for Flagg when they mature.

  6. I TOLD you stop saying "when Anthony Davis gets healthy" didn't I? I told you it's not going to happen. This dude's body is not built for NBA basketball. Like Greg Oden or Brandon Roy. Some people's bodies just aren't durable enough. Anthony Davis benefited from the era he's playing in. If he played in a more physical era he would not have lasted more than 5 or 6 seasons.

  7. Hopefully the play is we can sell a bit some assets teams want at the deadline for some picks and regroup next year. Now the mavs have leverage over ad. He ain't getting a max. Kyrie will be ready next year. Flagg gets some development aswell.

  8. People trade because they think one or two players will get them over the hump nobody trades for the hump like we did I think AD is snake bitten realistically he wouldn’t be injured if he would’ve moved his feet on defense it was a lazy attempt to keep markenenn outta of the paint 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

  9. Trade proposal to help build for the future

Dallas receives; Gabe Vincent on an expiring contract, Dalton Kinecht a young shooter to develop with Coop and a 2nd round pick

Lakers receives; PJ Washington, the much needed 3andD player they need

  10. We should've been in full tank mode from Day 1. We have 1 pick worth anything in the near future, and losing as many games as possible this year is the best way to maximize that pick. Who cares if we sneak into the playoffs and get sweep in round 1? I'll take the lottery pick and hope we can jump in the draft again. At least then we have 2 legit young players to build around… as opposed to trying to win now with a first round exit being our best case, then the team slowly die as we wait for our next chance at a good draft pick in several years.
