Seems like a great guy. The Pirates desperately need his talents. I don’t think these new guys know how beloved you become by the fanbase as a player, especially when you start hitting some dingers!! Can’t wait to watch.

Interestingly enough his hit to payroll is only 14 this year. 15 next. Est payroll is around 90-91. There’s room to add.
Love the signing, we have commented on this for 3 weeks now…. And the pirates continue to milk the publicity they’re getting and I sincerely hope it’s not because they’re done improving this team. We need more bats and probably another starter. Let’s stop begging for kudos and get back to work, BC.
O’Hearn is exactly the kind of player the Pirates should be targeting in free agency most of the time. He’s never going to be in Cooperstown, but he’s better than a journeyman and he has been durable thus far in his career. Believe me when I tell yinz, there is a lot to be said for a player who may not be great, but who is otherwise a known quantity. Meaning, “reliably better than average” is usually better than “occasionally great”. You can win a lot of games with a team full of guys like this. You do still need a couple of stars to lead the charge, yes. But for the rest of your lineup? Yeah, he’ll work.
I love this guy already
I’m looking forward to seeing how he’ll fit with the team and how he’ll play!
