This is something fans were saying for ages…….
Let’s put this into perspective. If they’ve been trying to deal Dougie since the draft last year, we should put to bed this notion that the Quinn Hughes trade is what broke shit with the team.

It was either unofficial news or conjecture on my part but I think we knew fitz has been trying to move dougie for awhile. Idr if an insider has said it before. But good now to get the official story which you rarely get.
Can’t be mad at Doug. However, I want to win.
Also not great to be trading him at close to the lowest possible value in his contract where he’s paid the most. He’s still a useful player but his numbers won’t say that.

Detroit has 26M in cap. I heard there are talks, but Detroit is rumored to be in the teams Dougie didn’t want to be traded to.
At the end of the day the glaring difference between Doogie and Palat is their compete level. Dougie is 6’6″ and 220-230lbs and he plays like a wallflower. He started the season really well using his influence to dictate space and time out there. He got hurt then reverted back to his low intensity game.
I’m not absolving Palat but I don’t hate on him as much as I do Dougie. Palat is giving all he can and it’s not good enough but I can’t fault his effort.
Dougie just doesn’t want it. Even if he’s lost a step he can still play better
One injury and he won’t go anywhere. Fitz screwed it all up. I just hope Kovi is able to play like he used to.
