I will admit I did not like the trade at the time. I was wrong, and that trade got us my favourite Texan!
This was also a trade for Stroud. They took Stroud first so the trade price wouldnāt jump had they picked WAJ first instead.
The trade made me so hyped! Seeing us take 2 and 3 was stellar
It was such a madden type trade. I was ESTATIC
WAJ is such a dog!! i donāt follow college so i had no idea who was showing up when he got drafted but heās been non stop amazing. heās who i thought clowney and mario williams would be.

Don’t forget we got Bullock as well in that trade. Fully worth it
Edge rushers are freaks. A guy that big and fast being able to bend his ankle with his foot in that direction, consistently, without injuring it, is wild.
Trading up for a player that you think is going to be a hall of famer is always worth it.
Before the draft I really really wanted Will Anderson Jr. I fell into the whole āStroudās S-2 scores are bad so he wonāt be a good NFL QBā bullshit and thought we would still be bad enough that year that we could get a high draft pick in next yearās draft and get Caleb Williams or someone else from that loaded class. Draft night comes around I was at first upset seeing Stroud get drafted but I was just like āitās whatever. Iāll ride with our guyā. 5 minutes later and the trade is announced and I flipped the fuck out. I had never been that excited over a trade in my life and knew immediately what was coming next. Fast forward to the game against the Bucs that year and realized not only did we draft a beast in WAJ but CJ looked out to be like heād be one of the best QBs weāve ever had wear the jersey. That draft night was so fucking awesome and im super glad i was wrong. We got 2 beasts in one draft that totally turned the team around. Man, i love those guys and i really hope theyāll bring us our first ring.
They didnāt give up 3 1s for a single defender. They bought culture. Will was who DeMeco wanted to anchor the culture of this defense.
They also gave everybody the signal: we are not fucking tanking or rebuilding. We are winning right now.
And that shit worked.
I just never understand sports writers making bold sweeping statements about what WILL happen. They should know more than anyone that taking a gamble can absolutely pay off huge. Blind hating is never a good look.
There was only 1 expert who even predicted we drafted Stroud and traded up for WAJ too. I thought it was a crazy idea and didnāt think it would ever happen but it did and I was ECSTATIC about it!!!
