[Passan] Third baseman Alex Bregman and the Chicago Cubs are in agreement on a five-year, $175 million contract, sources tell ESPN. One year after their failed pursuit of Bregman in free agency, the Cubs land one of the biggest bats of the winter.

  30. Well, I am eating crow. They actually went out and signed a star. I’m not super high on Bregman, but a lot of people considered him the second-best position player in the offseason, and it’s possible the Cubs just saw too much of Tucker’s health problems to re-sign him. So overall, I feel pretty good about this deal.
