[Passan] Third baseman Alex Bregman and the Chicago Cubs are in agreement on a five-year, $175 million contract, sources tell ESPN. One year after their failed pursuit of Bregman in free agency, the Cubs land one of the biggest bats of the winter.

  1. What!!! If we could get PCA swinging like he did the first half of the year this can be a WS team.

  2. We’re not trading Nico, Shaw just moves to an ultimate utility role. Can play any of the middle infield and and 3rd

  3. We are a better team than last year now. Lost tucker… but added cabrera, bregman, steele, and a better bullpen

    Hell ya

  4. Ok. We got another pitcher and another bat. . . Both good ones? Idk what to do rn, I wasn’t expecting this.

Is this optimism? Pls let Steele come back in great form and the rest of the pitchers be healthy and on point.

  5. Well, I am eating crow. They actually went out and signed a star. I’m not super high on Bregman, but a lot of people considered him the second-best position player in the offseason, and it’s possible the Cubs just saw too much of Tucker’s health problems to re-sign him. So overall, I feel pretty good about this deal.

  6. C – Amaya/Kelly

    1B – Busch

    2B – Nico

    SS – Dansby

    3B – Bregman

    LF – Happ

    CF – PCA

    RF – Seiya

    DH – Ballesteros

Bench: Alcantara is fast and can play all 3 OF spots, Shaw can play 3 IF spots.

    NOT BAD!
