Really tired of the stupid narratives this offseason, like they didn’t want to spend before the CBA or they would never sign a large contract, in spite of their prior attempts with Bregman and offers to Scott or even Shohei. Some fans just want to roll with whatever narrative suits their mood
I’ve said it a million times. I can’t stand this sub in the offseason.
I won’t fill mine out until they trade Shaw
Why would anyone apologize for overpaying AND giving a NTC clause to a declining player?
Bregman makes the team better, but I’d rather have Suarez for less time and maybe a higher AAV.
If they wanted a big fish, then pay the premium for Tucker or Bichette.
This isn’t an optional use of resources
We did it!
…ill wait.
I saw this coming so no need to fill this out but I got flamed for telling people to stop. That’s none of my business though. *sip tea*.
Cubs will almost certainly go over the CBT now which is exactly what they should be doing.
We’ve honestly had the best off season of any team in baseball.
Maybe it works out maybe not but at least they’re going for it. Let’s go with a championship.
Lol absolutely not everyone in this sub last year said this was a bad idea and it still is Jed can gargle my balls.
NOT NOW JED READ THE ROOM
No, I don’t intend to apologize when he decided the best way to spend money was another high-floor guy who got outhit the guy whose lineup spot he’s going to take.
This team needs a long-term corner OF and a top-tier pitcher, and he goes for a 32-year-old who overlaps with one of our best prospects. Only makes sense if he’s going to flip Shaw for a guy like Joe Ryan or trade Hoerner and move Shaw to 2B.
Or both? Keeping Shaw doesn’t mean we don’t keep Nico. I do agree we need to extend Nico not matter what
I miss Theo Epstein
Continuing to talk shit about Ricketts being cheap apparently works. I never put this at the feet of Jed and always at the feet of ownership.
I never doubted, enjoying this special night.
i can proudly say i owe no appologies. so far my 2 big predictions from day 1 of the offseason have come true: bregman, and how imanaga played out. and a week and a half ago after imai signed with houston and the fanbase was lighting torches, i said it freed them up to trade for a starting pitcher and then sign one of bregman/bichette/belli, so maybe it’d be a blessing in discguise…and here we are.
just felt i earned an “i told you so” in an apology thread 🙂
Sign me up. A+++++ off-season. Ricketts ponies up. Respect
I’ll admit, I miss Theo. My bias shows. Sorry Jed.
I still don’t like him or the ownership.

Wooo! Awesome!
And it’s insane to suggest (so I’ve read in some articles) that Nico could be traded to move Shaw to 2nd. No fucking way that happens…right?
I’m surprised holy shit, I’ll reserve judgement until the season starts as I don’t want to see us lose Nico, but this is undeniably a good and big move. LFG.
