[Anne Rogers] #Royals avoided arbitration with the following players, per source: Kyle Isbel: $2.7 million; Bailey Falter: $3.6 million; John Schreiber: $3.715 million; and Nick Mears: $1.9 million. Kris Bubic & Vinnie Pasquantino haven’t reached an agreement as of now. Likely headed for hearings.

  1. Seems all good. I like that JJ is willing to do arbitration hearings. I think the previous administration was too unwilling to go there. They’re all adults and understand it’s a business. This is a more unpleasant part of the biz to be sure, but I don’t think it’s inherently negative and I’m sure the Royals are professional about it.

  2. Over the past five years teams have won about 60% of these cases (note last year was odd in that players won more cases, 9/15, for the first time since prior to 2020).

Statistically the Royals should split these two.

That being said they probably only end up going to arb with one player. Just a guess but they settle with Pasquantino and go through the process with Bubic.

  3. Interested to see where it settles for Vinnie. I know everyone is a professional, but still, you see this process blow up relationships periodically, because it’s toxic af.

  4. $3.7 million for someone as replaceable as Schreiber is a waste. Especially being another year older.

  5. Bubic not getting a deal done is kind of interesting.

Probably just couldn’t agree on a number but…
