The Sixers are 6-1 in the last seven games Joel Embiid has played, and they’re two games out of the three seed. Could it all be happening this year? We talk about the win in Orlando and how everything is settling into place. 1. I disagree with the take that they need another point guard. They are currently grooming VJ to play point and he's actually doing very well. By playoffs time he will be way better at it. Playoff rotations usually shorten, so if McCain doesn't improve, him falling out of rotation is not really problem if you have Maxey, VJ, and PG as ball handlers. But just like Nurse said he needs to play more. Tim Legler said it could take an entire year and off-season for him to get back to what he was. I wouldn't really trade anyone on the team except Lowry, Gordon and maybe Justin Edwards. I definitely think they should sign walker and Barlow to real contracts and drop one of those 3 guys

  2. Loved the trade scenario pivot lol. But seriously, we all made a decision to go down with the Embiid ship. Let’s ride it out. Oh Captain! My Captain!

  3. I think its pleasant surprise that the team sees what we all see in VJ and Nick Nurse has the utmost trust in him, the 1st few weeks of the season I just thought they were playing him much bc of injuries and the fact that he was a high lottery pick so the FO made a decree that he needs to play, but now i see that is not the case and he really is just that helpful of a basketball player that yoy want him playing 35+ min a game as rookiešŸ˜‚so wild to me bc we never get this lucky

  4. TRADE MAXEY NOW!!! Do Sixers fans even realize it’s not even organizationally possible to build around Maxey! The Sixers don’t even have a first round draft pick until 2028. That means the players you would draft to build around Maxy would be drafted eight years after Maxy's draft. A draft spread this far is not a recipe for building a cohesive team! Just as a recent example, neither OKC or Golden State had draft spreads this distant! These teams drafted their core within 4 years of each other!
We need to be putting primary focus on Edgecomb's time horizon and let Maxy grow with a current serious contender!

Let's think logically, assuming draft picks take 3-5 years to develop, Maxy would now be north of 30 years old. Also, these picks are probably all late round draft picks because the Sixers will likely make the playoffs but lose in the 1-2 rd with their currently constructed team. This is a completely stupid way to think about trying to build a team and so reminiscent of ā€œThe Processā€ strategy! Also, tell me how to build around a 6 '2 [minus] 1.5 playoff PG whos +/- drops with volume and who is 2nd in allowing TO points, 1st in allowing opponents points in the paint, 5th in allowing opponents 2nd chance opportunities, and plays a redundant role as your young star who is 5 years younger and a 3rd pick who already has better defensive numbers than Maxey! Maxey also plays 40 min. a game which is a problem and symptomatic of a current team construction issue. You cut Maxey's playing time as you would surround him with better options to a normal guard's minutes, you’ll see his scoring number drop but will still be a liability on defense.

I get casual fans get excited about a flashy fast scorer who gives some hope after ā€œThe Processā€ disaster, but Maxey is a win now ā€œProcessā€ remnant that needs to be flipped while at his likely highest value! Maxey is just another Embiid, good enough to get you to the playoffs but not good enough to win a Championship! If anyone disagrees I'm more than happy to get into an in-depth statistical analysis of what Maxey really is!

  5. Also has been my argument for the nba schedule. It should be more like baseball where you stay in a city for 2-3 games and move on. It would solve A LOT of travel. And add some hints of rivalry vs teams in these series.

  6. This team is hitting the stride we all wanted to last year and it's more fun this way than ever. Why is any trade even on the table with embiid? He looks great he's still our best player on any given night and we still need him for a big leap into title status. We're winning and also climbing the standings. Maxey is amazing and vj has been a true revelation. Paull George is the perfect complimentary piece as a damn fourth or 5th option? And any night you need him to give you 25 to 30 possibly 40? Is even more dangerous along with his playmaking. And the East is not as weak as y'all think!! Any team can upset the top 4 seed from that conference.

  7. It's just amazing being able to enjoy basketball. I was gonna say competitive but our team as constructed can be much more than complete. Probably best Joel has had. Great balance of youth and veterans. Finally some young, energetic and athletic players. Very good depth. Love that we don't play Lowry on Gordon. Nothing against the guys and I'm sure they're teammates but if you need them playing at this point you're in trouble. I think we have the best guard rotation in the league. I think we may be trading Oubre and or Grimes. Don't want to, but they definitely have some trade value.

  8. Until a traditional point guard wins an NBA championship, the position is over rated. The last true point guard to win one was Tony Parker. Maybe Kyle Lowry, but not really.

  9. @Spike

I understand that as a Philly Sports fan and the creator of this media outlet, it is your natural inclination to feel cursed being on the record discussing positive Sixers reckless speculation.

Guys this has been Maxey's team since the 2024-25 Regular Season. Good things have happened to the Warriors since it has been Steph's team. Maxey shut himself down. We get VJ. That's a pretty huge ask for an organization to tell it's 24y/o 1-time All-Star who finally got his own team for the first time. Ant+Lamelo got as Rooks. Haliburton got an Indy. Max finally gets and then they tank. And waited for his deal (Steph's having a 13MM contract is why they could get KD right?).

Question: Who is more likeable for kids: Maxey, Steph, any other NBA player?

  10. "Look at that great player in the middle of the floor that they are utilizing with their other good players to create a really like
an offense that doesn't make you nauseous." Ring Lardner could not describe it more eloquently. Spot on Spike.
