The Reds have signed INF Garrett Hampson and RHP Josh Staumont to a minor league contracts, per the club’s minor league transaction log.

  1. Before all the original “Reds are cheap/SelltheTeamBob” comments – every team signs these kind of guys to minor league contracts. Sometimes it’s a way to have some experienced players as emergency depth, sometimes it’s a no risk way to see if a guy has any value, and sometimes it’s literally just to fill out the minor league roster.

  2. I’ve discovered that if you are having difficulty falling asleep, you just need to read the reds off-season activity and it’ll bore the shit out of you.

  3. Hampson is whatever.  Never going to complain about a minor league contract.

    I still think Staumont is a guy who can figure it out and return to being a good reliver at some point. Guy had a live arm a few years ago. Glad they’re not giving up on him yet.

  4. Frustrating that it’s little moves instead of some much needed power in the lineup. But at least they didn’t sign Max Kepler.
