You couldn’t write a worse script for this management group. How could they spend an entire season focusing on nursing Demko back to health and come into this season and go “yeah, extend this man, his injury days are over!”
This really might be the year we actually draft in the top 3 and don’t get hot at the wrong time. Everything is aligning. It might be aligning for next year too.

So management said they already knew in the offseason that Hughes was unlikely to sign an extension. Why did we rush to extend Demko? A pure desperation move to keep Hughes?

I remember reading this article when it came out and thought oh that’s great. Now I’m thinking that his body is just not meant to do what he needs it to do.
I feel sorry for Demko, but I feel it’s a good chance for Tolopilo. He’s a decent goalie, maybe just needs to play more games in NHL. I think it might be good for the team considering the situation (we have nothing to lose… except McKenna!)

Man, I feel for Demko. He’s a total professional, but just terrible fortune when it comes to injuries/durability.
