Bregman is the obvious choice for cleanup hitter to highlight the lineup. I like PCA @ 5 followed by Suzuki & Ballesteros. Dansby at 9 is even strong. Busch at the top is a great choice. Does anyone have a better version as this one is solid.

  1. NGL, prefer Bregman for all things and bat and at 175 million vs Tucker at $300+.

  2. Is Miguel Amaya supposed to be healthy to start the year? He was playing really well before all the injuries.

  3. Nico in? Yes.
    Shaw out? Yes.
Bregman on the team? Unfortunately inevitable.

Don’t change a thing (unless we sign someone like Bellinger)

  4. Probably Austin in at DH vs southpaws.

I wonder if Busch will still get regular starts vs lefties too or if Austin platoons in.

Honestly I wouldn’t mind Alcantara getting some starts in left vs lefties over Happ too.

  5. We’re ok with Seiya’s glove in RF? Why do I think we trade Shaw for a corner outfielder?

  6. Personally, I’d put PCA in leadoff, Busch 3rd, & Happ 5th or swapped with Seiya (having him 5th keeps the L-R swapping that makes relief appearances more challenging).

PCA did his worst when batting 5th last year (94 PA’s, so not a huge sample size, but 100 is usually considered enough to be accurate). Meanwhile, Happ was ok offensively, but I’d rather PCA & Busch get more potential appearances, particularly in the 1st inning & the end of the game.

  7. Nico Busch Seiya Bregman is probably the best way to do this. Seiya can’t bat below second half version of PCA. Happ can be 6th

  8. that is a ridiculous lineup. should be 1 Hoerner 2 Busch 3 bregman 4 Suzuki 5 PCA 6 Bellesteros

  9. Hot take: Moisés Ballesteros will be the obvious candidate for the third spot in the order by season’s end.

  10. They are always wrong about the lineups, but I guess they have to put something together. Counsell has a lot of options so we’ll see.

Busch and Happ are your likely leadoff guys, but I’d say put Busch as your #3 and have Happ leading off.

Nico didn’t start hitting in the 2 hold until the end of the season, so we’ll see if Counsell keeps him there.

    Bregman could slot 2-4.

Suzuki likely 4 or 5th spot

PCA, Mo Baller, Kelly likely 6-8

Swanson and Amaya as your 9th hitters.

  11. Another year with Happ in LF… sigh and Suzuki playing RF is a mistake. He cannot play college ball level defense…

  12. 1) Hoerner
    2) Busch
    3) Suzuki
    4) Bregman
    5) PCA
    6) Happ
    7) Swanson
    8) Kelly/Amaya
    9) Ballesteros

This gives you a R/L switch after every 1 or 2 batters while also giving you a switch hitter near the middle to allow for either 3 straight righties against a LHP or back-to-back lefties against a RHP and then you just switch Swanson and Ballesteros some days as needed.
