A downvote of this means “I refuse to accept reality.”

It’s really as simple as that.

  1. Its almost like money grubbing hedge fund douche bros aren’t actually fans of the team as much as fans of its profit margin…crazy!

  2. So stop going to the games. It’s quite easy, stop supporting these guys, they don’t care about you

  3. Which is a function of the city they’re in more than anything else. Where else are you going for three hours of entertainment in the city for less?

They’re in the bottom 3rd in concession prices (even though all the food at Fenway is ass)
but that doesn’t fit the narrative. Something that could be perceived as negative happened so the lowest common denominators are out in force to bitch and whine for fun. Bitching and whining is more central to being a Red Sox fan than watching baseball at this point.

  4. Yup because of this, the last time I attended a game in fenway was in 2022 and refuse to go again until FSG actually commits to investing in this team

  5. I’m genuinely curious about these numbers. Revenue figures aren’t publicly available to my knowledge? These teams are privately held.

Also, what are expenses? There’s a lot more than just player payroll.

The point probably is true about the Red Sox so this is not an apologist post. I just am confused by this stuff.

  6. I’ll be honest in saying neither Bichette or Bregman is a particularly inspiring long-term bet. That said there needs to be some star we are willing to blow money on. I see Kyle Tucker despite the lack of positional need as essential to chase. There’s not going to be S-Tier hitting talent on the FA market again until 2028/2029 and we can’t just pass on every star.

  7. I’d love to see an updated version of this for last season. Without devers, I bet we’re below 40%

  8. It’s apparently too much to ask ownership/front office for transparency in what direction they want to go. Saying one thing and doing something different is duplicitous.

Then when it blows back they issue a statement consisting of word salad and faith in the core they already have which they publicly acknowledged needed upgrades.

  9. Bunch of clowns here. Will boycott a sports team bcuz the owner doesnt spend money how they’d like but yet will continue to support corrupt and immoral companies with no real resistance. Will continue to support an immoral and corrupt government and its agencies with no real resistance. But they paint themselves as heros for standing up against a sports team an its owners.

  10. And that’s just the tickets. Adding in parking, food, and drinks they’re the most expensive gameday experience.

  11. Really makes you wonder which team Roman will be playing for when he wins his first MVP 😭

  12. The Mets are a trainwreck, but look at #s 2 and 3 on the list.

Who played in the WS this year?

The fucking A’s spent a higher percentage of revenue on payroll than the Red Sox did.

  13. People say boycotts won’t work…I used to go to a lot more games, and the couple I still go to per year (one trip on Patriots Day with my dad every year, and then one with my daughter and dad later in summer), it seems like there have been way more empty seats the past few years. I know they claim sellouts when it looks, to me, like as many as 10% of the seats are empty. Could be season ticket holders who didn’t show up, but still, I never used to see that.

  14. Red Sox are the 8th cheapest team in the league. Also, notice who the world series contenders are and where they sit on this list. There’s your answer as to where championships come from. And guess what? Those teams make money too

  15. This statistic should be The banner for this team. It tells you everything you need to know and it’s not like this is an outlier it’s been like this for years..
