6. Hear me out and tell me if im wrong, I think laine is as good as caufield with the right surrounding. Suzuki, slaf, laine / demi (make him the main puck handler), caufield and newhook (puck getter) / then you have kapanen, danault and evans battling for the center positions for the bottom six

7. Patrick Laine is constantly injured. It imbalances the team. Not to mention that he is very inconsistent. I don't really want him back.

8. Easy, Blais, Veleno, Beck, Bolduc out, Anderson, Evans, Laine, Newhook in. They will have to do some fancy work with the cap, but Beck and Bolduc are waiver free, and can go to Laval, ditto with one of Fowler or Dobes.

   Problem is, Beck, Bolduc, Blais, Veleno and Dobes, only get you $4.356 million in cap space. Add to that the current cap space on hand, and that only gets you $6.052 million. Evans and Dach = $6.212 mil.

   Newhook could go to LTIR to save another $2.9mil, which would get it done, but they will still have the same issue when he is ready to come back.

   To me, Laine is the odd man out. mind you he is still currently only on IR, and still is counting against the cap, but something has to give, when Newhook is ready.

19. Internal competition is excellent. We haven’t seen this type of depth in years and they are all professionals who will understand their roles on the team. Hugo has options up to the trade deadline. Can’t make everyone happy so there will be some moves. Dach was starting to play solid hockey and so was Newhook. Laine is always dangerous with his bender. No oft bends the stick the way he can. Gally gives you his 110% every shift. This team is going to be fun to watch…

20. Would be incredible to trade him for Simon Nemec. We get more potential for less wages which we could use to give proven players high contracts or extend our talents who will need a bigger contract like demidov. Or trade for a goalie. But Simon nemec proved himself and his coach still doesn’t see his value and just doesn’t really want him to have arround. Our PP is fine even without laine. Let’s face it he is not an elite 2 way player with great work ethic and crazy physicality for 9m

21. One thing that needs to happen is Gallagher needs to be put in the press box and left there u tip his contract expires.

22. There is no place in the line up for Laine. He can’t replace any of the top 6 and the only place for him is maybe 4th line.

24. I always thought the talk to trade Gally was foolish and people didn't appreciate the other things he brought to the game but seeing Montreal play this season, Gally looks out of place. Time to get someone else in there

25. If you can get rid of Laine and his contract for a half decent return DO IT! He's way passed his prime given how often his body just seems to fall apart. Not personal at all but he just isn't needed.

26. Laine is too slow to play on the top6, and cannot take a role that fits his style on the bottom 6. Let's face it, his time is over in MTL.

28. Laine and Dach should be shopped around before they hit game play. Montreal does not need the league seeing their value drop. Get something for them with speed, effort and helps the team. Maybe package them with a draft pick to get a possible top six player. As for Gally he has been a rock for this organization over his career. A true warrior and he still puts effort in. But his play has dropped and value for a good size contract is not showing. People get traded every year. Hockey is a business that moves on to try and win. I believe he should be shopped to a young team who needs a veteran player to help their organization. For example a team like Buffalo could benefit from his experience. If Montreal could move them and regain some salary cap space to improve the team why not. The time is now to move Laine and Dach and possibly Gally.

29. 69 points in 132 games for Dach while playing for Montreal. I just don't see the hype. He was drafted way too high for his talent level. Made of glass. Laine, same thing on the injury front and he's really slowed down through no fault of his own. I can see Blais and Beck being sent down. Gallagher as the 13th forward. Not sure if the cap numbers work though. Anderson with Bulduc and our boy that came back from lala land after ditching town could work.

30. Other than the obvious, skating and shot, the ONE single thing that scouts look at with NHL prospects are their pace of improvement. Pickford is on a skyrocket trajectory in that department. His skating is surely good enough and as you mentioned, his shot alone might get him a job in the NHL. He's a keeper in my opinion.

31. PP is struggling because there's no true one timer sniper and they tend to pass the puck too much, Laine could be the guy they need to shoot on the PP.

32. Liane needs to be traded immediately, dach sorry to say is also trade bait. Would love to get a 100pt player on the team and would give back Liane, dach, struble, Roy, Beck, even Hage and a couple picks to do it. Just as long as this person is under 30 years old.

33. They never tryed Laine on the first line because l Slaf was there. Now with Slaf on the 2nd line. Can't they try him on the 1st if he shows some effort when he comes back ? Imagine if he fit well with Suzy and Cole.

37. I think liane still has value. He can score goals, I hope he comes back and shows what he can do, and we trade him at the deadline. As for Dach, im sorry but he is damaged goods, he hasnt played a healthy season since we got him, i wouldn't be too hurt to see him gone. Gallagher, well he is pure heart and i think he would be good in a management system somehow, but his usefulness has come to an end he dosen't get into the dirty areas, he hasnt been able to score or even contribute to the team the way he use to, i think with the current team, he dosen't fit into the system anymore .

38. One thing that concerns me about Pickford is that a LOT of talent has bailed on the WHL opting for the NCAA. Is Pickford really this good, or is he a beneficiary of a more diluted talent pool because of that? I hope he is as good as he’s shown, but that’s a very big question.
