  1. Let's be honest as long as he stays healthy he can probably be an all-star candidate at just about any field or team. And I'd love to see Belli go to Phillie, that would be crazy

  2. As a lifelong Cubs fan, I hate the Bregman signing. Don’t want a cheater on this team. Ricketts finally decides to spend money and it’s on a cheater… I was happy we didn’t get anyone from that team for years and here we are. Don’t really care to watch now.

  3. Red Sox fan here – also not that disappointed. The biggest loss for the organisation is not Bregman’s bat or fielding but his veteran presence in the clubhouse. I expect to see 1 more major signing, probably a free agent but hopefully not Bichette as I think he is good but overrated, and then plenty of playing time for Mayer, Campbell etc. the AL East will be insane again this season and there may not be much between all 5 teams. Hopefully Cora can work his magic and get us back in the playoffs. Oh and Boston is never a small market, only deranged Yankee fans would say as much!

  4. With all the RNS collapses going on, that's 20%-30% of revenue up in smoke until a new, unquestionably less lucrative, deal is in place. The Tigers are out some ~50 million dollars. Skubal isn't worth more than Ohtani, 32 million is a joke, but everyone knows he's worth more than 19 million, likely between 24 and 28, but with 50 million gone, likely to be replaced by some 20-30 million, money has to be cut somewhere for 9 teams that lost their broadcast partner in the last 30 days.

  5. What am I missing on deferment? Won’t this hurt the team’s future when they’re shelling out millions for a player that’s no longer on the roster? Is this just “win NOW at any cost” while financially burdening their future? What’s the strategy?

  6. Nico isnt going anywhere, maybe next year when his contract is up but Shaw is going to be a utility infielder, he's very fast so great pinch runner and he did well pinch hitting last season.

Only thing cubs will maybe get is someone to play as a 4th back up outfielder

  7. What happens when they defer so much money that no who actually needs to play the games can be paid because every penny of current revenue goes to someone deferred (probably injured or retired) or when that happens it forces all contracts to have to be deferred. Deferred contracts should be illegal generally and, in some cases, maybe already. Cubs are run by the Ricketts, they are known scammers, of course if a scam becomes available to all, they will be the first to take it, doesn't make it right, in fact, only proves it's a scam.

  8. C'mon Fuzzy…. 😂 You're talking the difference of deferring how many (??) players on the Dodgers and Bregman for the Cubs ?? You don't see there's no "apples to apples" here ??
