Shota seems to have Shohei's number so far, with the only hit coming by way of what was originally documented as an error.

Shota seems to have excellent pitch selection against a man that is considered by many to be the best player in baseball, bringing his average in this particular matchup to .100.

Imanaga seems to choose a lot of pitches in locations that are difficult for Ohtani- high fastballs and getting him to chase carefully placed breaking balls. Pretty cool that we have a player that is so effective against him, and I am looking forward to this matchup in the coming season.

  1. And IIRC that one hit was initially ruled an error and then later changed to a hit.

  2. Shota is a lefty whose delivery makes it hard for lefties. Not that surprising.
