  1. If it’s a money only trade, then at least talk. If it involves Cowan/Danford, then it’s a no go.
Carlo is better now, it seems. No one really knows what he’s capable of at this point. Maybe he’s a suitable replacement for CT.
Every team in the league would be willing to take Cowan off the Leafs hands, but hopefully the Leafs are steadfast in refusing to part with him.

  2. Run in the opposite direction, Dougie Hamilton is old and slow let him become some other teams financial burden at this stage of the guy's career we don't need any more liabilities. Toronto needs younger players and draft capital. Find some older 35 Plus guy for a 7th round pick a has been or I never were type player. Bring the Leafs old first round draft fifth overall pick guy back from the 1980s or 1990 Luke…who's in Winnipeg at 38 for a 7th round pick.

  3. He’s a good player but don’t trade for him. Want to use assets, trade for Jason Robertson. He’s worth the spending assets to acquire Hamilton is in his thirties and not worth 9 mil a year

  4. Hard pass. 9M for a soft offensive dman having a terrible season. You're doing the devils a favor taking on that cap hit. 10pts in 40 games and a -7. We don't need another Rielly.

It would have to be either at least 50% retained or 1 for 1 for Jarnkrok (Tanev and Joshua on LTIR)

  5. Brian Burke always said that you would be surprised how many Canadian hockey players had all the Canada based teams on their no trade list. It’s human nature not to want to pay taxes. Especially when we see how well the Canadian government (and the U.S. government) spend money. Things might be getting a little better in the U.S with the Orange Man but Canada is doomed to a Socialist death spiral of higher tax rates.

  6. It's fascinating. I liked Doug Hamilton in Calgary and was always surprised each time he got moved. Big body but not physical. Some useful offensive skills he's 32 but he had 22 Goals and 74 Points 3 years ago. This is four teams that have given up on him.
If the Devils would take Morgan Reilly back that is a net improvement for the Leafs defence but they get a year older.
New Jersey has to shed salary. No one is taking Palat so Hamilton is next. They have a bevvy of offensive defencemen all much younger than Hamilton which bodes ill for Rielly.
The Leafs have zero room and are using Stolarz LTIR to give them 2.5$ million in space. Tanev is probably going on LTIR.
The devils are worse and are using Kovacevic and Dadonov to create $1.5 million in space.
So if we trade 9 million for 7.5 million the Leafs if they can find someone for LTIR can probably make it work.
If the Devils will take Rielly for this and four more years. He might turn out to be unplayable in another market. Will they take Nic robertson and a second to make that deal? Leaves the prospects intact.
Bet you the Leafs were on the list.

If they can dump Rielly in a deal for Hamilton I think it improves the team.
They can't make it work if they dont have a big salary going back.

    .

  7. The very single last thing they need is an OFFENSIVE defensemen! They’re have enough point production, they need to lock down the defense. Reilly is already a liability. Another player like him would kill them

  8. Not a good idea, massive salary added to the Leafs already high payroll and i do not think he improves the team enough forLeafs to absorb that kind of cap hit for a very small improvement.

  9. All the people saying no arr wrong but leafs cant afford 9mill cap hot so depends on what we have to give up to do it. Leafs need more offence on the back end. Hamilton is exactly what they need

  10. Ah yes, so while everyone is complaing about morgan rielly, a aging offensive defensemen with a big long term contract whos defensive faults outweigh his offense, we will give up all our futures for a aging, offensive defensmen whos defensive faults are even worse and on an even worse contract. Why would they want this and what would it solve?
