Jon Heyman Drops A *BOMBSHELL* On Bo Bichette’s Free Agent Market…. | Blue Jays Rumours & Breakdown

The Toronto Blue Jays have been battling it out for the top free agents on the market. Unfortunately, one of their main targets may be out of reach. Jon Heyman has reported Bo Bichette is asking for a significantly higher value of contract than initially projected, which could impact the aggressiveness of all teams in his market. Bo is a fan favourite, so it would be very hard to see him play in another teams’ jersey. However, is the contract worth his asking price? In this episode, we discuss the article from Jon Heyman and the Blue Jays chances of landing the star infielder, as well as discuss Blue Jays players and their arbitration process. We provide you with the most up to date news and storylines right here on Locked On Blue Jays.

  1. Bichette isn’t a fit for the Yankees. They aren’t going to pay him big money when they are more interested in Tucker. Jazz is a better player than Bichette at 2nd. Doesn’t seem likely.

  2. We can see Bregman used the Schwarber and Alonso contracts as a guideline.
If we look at Bregman’s contract he got $175M for 5 years ($35M AAV) and 40% of it deferred ($70M).
Bo is 4 years younger so add it to the number of years on the contract and you get 9. Multiply $35 AAV by 9 years and you get $315M and 40% deferred ($126M).
Bo asking for $300M is not unreasonable.
