[Rapoport] The #Raiders are now requesting #Chargers DC Jesse Minter for a HC interview, source said, as he’ll add them to his growing list.

  1. Sounds like they are interviewing everyone. Makes me wonder if their main target isn’t still in the playoffs.

  2. Would rather have an offensive coach but he’s a good candidate. Just hell no to Greg Roman lol

  3. It’d be par for the course for this stupid fucking franchise that only exists to piss me off.

  4. I like that we’re interviewing basically every coordinator and passing game guy from a playoff team, I wouldn’t read too much into any one candidate

  5. The vast majority of candidates we interview are very reasonable candidates. So far I like this search a lot.

  6. They’re interviewing everyone and asking “how would you fix this dumpster fire?” so they can compare notes later

  7. I just got a request for a HC interview. Tom and Mark were impressed with my game management skills in Tecmo Bowl.

  8. I was pretty impressed by Minter’s game plan last night and often times this season. I’m glad they want to interview but he’d need to be pretty overwhelmingly convincing with his plan for the offense long term for me to want them to consider him seriously.

  9. Jesse Minter or Klint Kubiak. Last nights game was not on the defense. The chargers haven’t given up more than 20 points since week 12. I see Mike Macdonald potential in a candidate like Minter.

  10. Minter HC(look at their defensive stats in their postseason) and Webb OC(think HC is a bit too much for him having not called any plays) would be my combo but idk if the Donkeys can block a QB Coach> OC promotion.

  11. The viper defense is the trend. Drafting viper type personnel and coaching the Defense would follow this trend.

  12. Here’s my prediction on where we end up on our coaching search:

    HC: Klint Kubiak

He’s best non-retread name out there. Raiders need an offensive minded guy to nurture the development of their qb of the future. The league loves the McVay tree and Kubiak has done well since he left the Rams. He’s not exactly Ben Johnson, but he’s the closest analog in this year’s cycle.

    OC: Nate Scheelhasse

Scheelhasse gets a promotion from Passing game coordinator under McVay to OC under a McVay disciple. The Raiders are interviewing him, so they’ll have a chance to sell him on the opportunity.

    QB Coach: Derek Carr

DC returns as the mentor and chaplain to Mendoza. DC has ties to Kubiak and, of course, the Raiders organization

DC: Raheem Morris / Jonathan Gannon

Morris probably has a ton of options to resume his career as a DC. The Rams might be the most natural fit with Shula on the way up and out. But Kubiak will want an established guy with HC experience with whom he can entrust the defense. The two coaches together in LA under McVay.

Gannon is a name that carries weight with Raider fans. He’s another option as an experienced DC with HC experience.

  13. I think I’m next up for HC interview. Mine is at the Arby’s around the corner from my house
