I, once again, am presenting the idea of a potential trade to bring Brady Tkachuk to St. Louis. This is a topic I’ve brought up each of the last two seasons and got downvoted to hell. Now, with the yearly Sens drama unfolding for the world see, I would like to show you all why this can and should happen.

The latest drama with the Sens and Brady’s outward disgust with it is just another in the long list of grievances with the Sens. I do not think he’s opposed to a trade out of town and especially to his hometown.

The centerpiece around this deal would have to be Kyrou, who is someone Doug has been openly trying to trade. No, I’m not a Kyrou hater—he’s a decent top six player with good underlying metrics—but this guy will never be the top line winger we always wanted him to be. Also, with the emergence of other wingers like Snuggerud, Neighbours, Holloway and, eventually, Carbonneau, I think Kyrou is the obvious odd man out.

This franchise needs a culture change—badly. Brady is a guy who can change it. We’d prob need to give up more than just Kyrou realistically to make it happen and as long as it isn’t Neighbours/Snuggerrud/Holloway I’d be ok with it.
Why shouldn’t or wouldn’t this happen?

Tyler Tucker for Brady, who says no?
This deal should have happened before kyrou ntc kicked in
I just don’t like him. There, I said it.
To get Brady at this point I think you’d have to give up Kyrou plus one of Holloway/Snuggy/Neighbours. Wouldn’t mind giving up Neighbours in that scenario since their playstyles are similar
The biggest impediment to all of this is the Ottawa/Canadian media market. The Flames have been roasted on a daily basis ever since they traded Matthew Tkachuk, and it probably makes Staios overvalue Brady. Staios will probably only entertain a package for Brady that includes an Olympian or a top-3 overall draft pick.
Is this because brady is likely to be traded and Matthew isn’t? Or do we just want brady and not matt? Or is it location based? Brady likely to move from Canada to back home than Matt to leave the miami paradise?
I would maybe do a one for one hockey trade because both guys could use a change of scenery, but I wouldn’t give up more than Kyrou, and I certainly wouldn’t throw in Neighbours or anyone else. We are talking Brady here, not Matthew.
I know a lot of fans really like Brady’s dad, and there’s this mythical status attached to the Tkachuk brothers, so let’s get a realistic handle on Brady Tkachuk. He has .79 points per game. The Sens have made the playoffs once since he’s been there, and they’re in the absolute tank this season. That is not entirely his fault, but still relevant given that so many people want him because they think he’ll spark this team into being worth a damn.
Compare that to Kyrou who has .77 points per game in his career. People are gonna say “intangibles” are a reason the Blues should trade a bum like Kyrou for a real leader like Tkachuk. But given the disaster that Ottawa has generally been, I’m not sure that paying a premium for those intangibles – if they even exist – is worth anything. If anything, you could argue that you are giving up on a more skilled player. Maybe Kyrou could score more points and crack 40 goals if this team had any depth on forward beyond him and Thomas right now.
So I don’t sell the farm. I think a one for one trade is fair for a Brady Tkachuk-Kyrou trade, but anything more, and the Blues are gettin’ got. And even then, I’m leery of giving up Kyrou because I think the moment he goes to a team where he isn’t expected to be THE guy is the moment he starts putting up more points.
Our special teams blows dick but you want a guy with 800 career PIM? I don’t dislike Brady but this league is getting really fast and I feel like he is a downgrade from Kyrou if the trade was 1:1 much less trading another piece with him in the deal. I’ll pass.
the only people who are infatuated with Brady Tkachuk are in Ottawa (if that) and St. Louis.
I dunno.
Just looking at point totals Brady doesnt really move the needle for me.
But on the other hand, FUCK YES, bring him home!
What gets added to Kyrou is kinda the whole game, so please do offer a specific so it’s easier to rate the idea.
And can ottawa throw in Perron too??🥺🥺
Why do I get the feeling Seravelli is going to tweet this in an hour like it is “insider information”?
Zero chance Kyrou waives his NTC for Ottawa.
You would not get Brady for Kyrou straight up… we’d have to package Kyrou with at least another player and a pick.
