  1. With the dodgers involved it’s too early for sure. Why would he choose the Mets over the dodgers if we aren’t willing to overpay? Diaz didn’t he was a Met

  2. Whether they add Tucker or not, this team is VERY top heavy. This isn't the NBA where 3 great players wins you a ring. You need 26 quality major leaguers and a deep triple-A team.

Terrible team construction…or lack thereof…by Stearns.

  3. How awesome would it be if the Mets can sign both Tucker and Bellinger with deferrals. If they can pull that off it would be incredible. Then they can push trades for pitching. Sounds crazy but if they are willing to defer it could happen and should happen.

  4. As a fan, you always hope they make the big moves that make the team better. But, it's hard to think otherwise when you see your leadership not doing things over and over.

  5. All you need to look at is your baseball fantasy drafts in the last few years Tucker has been drafted in the top 15 and top ten last season. My draft had Soto, Lindor and Tucker all in the top ten. Just imagine that in our lineup

  6. This sounds like a soto Yamamoto situation. Stearns would not do it. Cohen would. And there is pressure from ownership to do it…but in this case Cohen probably not willing to go to the max. Funny thing is I bet they get no outfielders of note, or SPs. But make the playoffs. They likely won't go far but will win more than '25

  7. I hate in a game seven of the nlcs to face diaz in the ninth with them ahead by one run. I also dread in a game 7 in the nlcs facing the dodgers us ahead by one run in the ninth and they facing williams.

  8. Signing a player for one year is ridiculous. We are not one player and or one pitcher away from being a world series team. Most of the pitchers and now Tucker are all one year contracts. Just doesn't make sense. As everyone is saying, if Tucker is talking to the Two teams that were in the World Series last year, how can the Mets compete?!

  9. love the roster building aspect of baseball, and normally enjoy watching the off-season unfold… this year, not so much!!! Ready for something to happen, not ready for more from the rumor mill.

  10. If the Mets were to sign Tucker, their outfield would have a higher payroll than some teams. Do you expect the Mets to go down that road? And be used as an example as to what is wrong in baseball in the Owners' Lockout?

  11. I think there is a chance that they sign him because they haven't acquired anyone to replace Nimmo. If they were not interested in him, they would have signed Austin Hayes by now.

  12. I had it at 3 years, 47 million first year, opt out after year 1, year 2 he makes 45 million and another opt after year 2 and 40 million in year 3.

  13. This is bound to be a very unpopular opinion, but I'd rather punt on 2026. 75% of our top 30 prospects will be in AAA or AA this year. Let's see what Wenninger, Santucci, Tong, Benge, Ewing and Reimer can do first before blowing up your payroll. If the Mets sign Tucker to a multi-year deal, you can forget about Skubal No team is going to want to enter the new CBA with a four hundred million dollar payroll.

  14. Ryan, thanks for continuing to run a great show.
I have to say this is the most deflating off-season I can recall. It’s been painful just sitting around and waiting for the Mets to do something splashy after trading Nimmo and letting Diaz and Alonso sign elsewhere. While watching other teams improving their rosters. When will the fun happen?

  15. But the Mets can say “you hit behind Soto” but what about the dodgers? “You can hit behind Shohei and have Mookie and Freeman protecting you.” Like come on.

Mets should give him ton of money and talk about how the staff knows him as they used to be with Houston together. And family hospitality. That’s what difference Mets have than the Dodgers or Blue Jays for Tucker

  16. None of this makes actual sense for the 2026 Mets who are clearly in a better place to trade for big talent rather than sign someone from this lackluster class of free agents. They have leaked as much repeatedly. 🤷‍♂️

  17. It's January and we still haven't even touched our rotation. We aren't going anywhere without a rotation and being delusional about the Mets won't help.

  18. I don’t understand how this is even a conversation. The Mets have no pitching, lost half their good players, and people think he’s choosing them over the Dodgers or Blue Jays? That’s not optimism—that’s denial. Let it go.
