[Sammon] Sources suggest Kyle Tucker could make his decision as early as this week. Mets reported offer to Tucker is in the range of $120-$140 million for over three years.

  1. To me, it read like the only team offering actual long-term length in a deal are the Blue Jays so it’s down to whether Tucker prefers a short-term or long-term deal.

  2. Hurry up and decide so we still have the chance to throw a bag at Bo if Tucker goes elsewhere.

  3. Why would Tucker, someone who pretty much played the entire second half of 2025 injured, want to take a short-term deal and hit the market again with the possibility of injuries affecting his market? To me, the security part of long-term makes sense and I hope the Jays aren’t the bridesmaids again.

  4. Can he promise to make his decision this week? I’d like to be done wondering about it for a while so I can start looking forward to this year

  5. Any speculation on likelihood to take this deal?

He seems to prefer a longer term so that he doesn’t have to worry about hitting the market when he’s potentially past his prime, but what are the benefits to him taking a shorter term at roughly this amount? Could he be swayed to go shorter for any reason?

  6. I can’t stand phrases like “as early as this week”.

Literally can’t be any earlier, so..yeah.

  7. I have a bad feeling that I think the Jays are done. Maybe something happens in the trade market but with the 2026 salary currently is at, a record setting amount, and their confidence in their existing team, I just can’t see them adding another $35-$40 million here for Bo or Tucker.

They are going to stay in the mix for them, but in the end, both players will probably take high AAV short term deals with opt outs. I bet the Jays are offering the longest term, but the AAV is probably not where either of those players are looking for.

This has been an incredible free agency up to now, but I think there would be a few questions on this offense if this is it.

  8. Mets are just being used as a pawn, what the Mets are likely willing to offer, a short term deal, Dodgers would just naturally be the favorites to land him at that point.

Also, on a separate note, a reporter thinking he can get away with a statement like “As early as this week” is exactly what’s wrong with sports reporting.

  9. Why the fuk would u want to play for the Mets?? They are a dumpster fire lol. If he truly wants a shot at winning, he will sign with the Jays. If not, good luck in NY!! 😂

  10. I think this knocks out the Mets but keep the Dodgers in play for a short term deal purely on the fact they’re a WS winning team. However, having said that Toronto likely leads because of the long term deal.

  11. Perhaps I’m being cynical here, but I do get a feeling Tucker may take a shorter deal with higher AAV from NYM or LAD.

I think it’s been known for a while that the Jays are offering the most aggressive long-term dollars. If he still hasn’t signed yet, I think it’s possible we aren’t a preferred market of his.

Which would be disappointing, but probably means we’d pivot hard back to Bo with a stronger offer.

  12. Tucker and his wife are expecting their first child soon — he’s coming to the Jays, bet on it.

Guarantee the deciding factor ends up being the wives group and how the Jays take care of player families.

  13. Let’s say the Jays offered $300M over 8 years ($37.5M per) and the Mets are offering $140M over 3 years ($46.67M per).

So let’s say he took the Mets offer. He would need $160M over 5 years ($32M per) to match the total gross from the Blue Jays’ theoretical offer in my example. But let’s say the Jays offer was $280M over 8 years ($35M per), then he would only need $140M over the next 5 years ($28M) to match.

If Tucker things he will be able to get that sort of deal in 3 years, then taking the Mets’ offer makes sense. If he doesn’t think he will get that type of offer in 3 years (i.e. due to decline in health, skills or new CBA rules), then taking the Jays’ offer would make more sense.

  14. He could also make his decision far later than this week, as I assume he will until someone definitively reports otherwise

  15. Team offering 5 yrs/225-250M will probably get him if he’s looking short term. Mets might actually need to go there to sign him but not sure Stearns will go that far

  16. “Could know as early as this week” like we were supposed to know in the next 24-48 hours about a month ago? 😂

  17. Based on everything I don’t think he’s signing with the Jays.

If we are the only ones offering term and no one else would budge and he wanted term/money/to play here, he’d have signed already.

Seems to me he’s unsuccessfully trying to get the Dodgers or Mets to raise their offer which they aren’t doing.

  18. Am I the only one worried about the potential of this turning into Anthony Rendon 2.0…?
