NJ Devils vs. Minnesota Wild Post-Postgame LIVE! 1/12/26 DEVILS WIN 5-2!

Join us to discuss the New Jersey Devils vs. Minnesota Wild game!

The New Jersey Devils close out a brutal road trip in Minnesota, taking on the Minnesota Wild and looking to avoid losing *5* straight.

This is HUGHES BOWL 3.

All 3 Hughes brothers, Quinn Hughes, Jack Hughes and Luke Hughes will all be playing in the same NHL game for the third time.

A massive story of the season was when NJ Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald botched the Quinn Hughes trade and let Bill Guerin swoop in and bring him to the Minnesota Wild.

Tonight will be a painful reminder of the FitzFumble of the century.

In a shocking turn of events, Dougie Hamilton is returning to the lineup and Simon Nemec will be a scratch.

*UPDATE: The NJ Devils come out and shock the world, beating the Minnesota Wild by a score of 5-2. Ondrej Palat and Jesper Bratt lead the way with 2 goals each! I also had an unexpected special guest drop by late in the stream.*

  1. WOOHOO šŸŽ‰šŸ™Œ! Eventually! What a great trip to Minnesota. And we got a huge victory. By the way last Wednesday night I went to an Adirondack Thunder game; which we won the game, 4-1 over the Worcester Railers. I need a victory drink.

  2. Happy the Devils won! A decently convincing victory…. For once. Let's GO Devils!!!

As for pissing the defense off, changing out Fitz for another GM isn't going to cure that IMO. The Devs are in this position because Fitz was handing out NTC/NMC's like he was Oprah handing out gifts at Christmas. As much as I want Dougie traded, a new GM won't magically make it easier to move him. I think the Devils are going to be stuck with Dougie, and stuck switching d-men in and out until the season is over. Guys are always easier to move in the summer, and Dougie will have one less season on his contract. Until then, let's hope for a season miracle.

  3. I called 3-2 devils win so I was close. Here’s what I can’t stand, we play better against high flying teams. It takes that to get us going. We have one of the easiest schedules the rest of the season and I don’t think that’s a good thing.

  4. Ace, riddle me this….. What did Fitz do before the Wild game to make them play with the intensity that they did ???? I'm gonna answer for ya, Fitz did nothing, the players stepped up and did it, maybe Keefe had a pregame speech, but the players did it. So, when they lose, it's all on them (players)… your thoughts…….

  5. Ace, I’m curious your thoughts. Yes, Quinn had some great ozone shifts, but he also makes some poor defensive plays. His +- has never been great. I just don’t think a small offensive defensemen at his cost is what this team would need. I do maintain my opinion he is overrated on overall impact, especially for playoff hockey. Thoughts?

  6. I agree Nemo doesn’t seem to be treated the same as some of the other guys and prob should have played. But maybe Nemo was not 100% and maybe part of the reason he sat out this one. (I hope any way)

  7. If it takes benching and lost ice time to bring some to life, this seems like a temporary solution.

As for the criticism of Hischier, I am not getting that one. Nico is the most consistent and dependable guy on the team.

  8. Cheers Ace, Good win but I can’t even begin to get excited while Fitz is the GM, my fear is that absolutely NOTHING will change now and it will be an identical repeat of last season, falling short of the post season.

  9. After last nights win, one thing is certainly clear, Jack and Luke really bring their game when playing against Quinn lol. I know that we are all still down bad, but anyone screaming that we should trade the Hughes bros need to be checked into a mental health facility…or AA. Now, I’m not saying that should NEVER be traded, but to give up on them when they never had the best chance to make it happen is insanity. I think trading 1-2 players to shake things up is the move, and firing the front office + Rogalski is a must. And yeah, Luke needs to bulk up starting now. You’re the man Ace!

  10. Sucks that Nemo had to come out — but at least this builds Dougie's trade value a little bit to remind teams what he's capable of. I would not be surprised if Dougie sits the next game regardless.

  11. Ace, bummed I couldn't join in last night. Watched this morning…great add with Austin! One game, one win and very well played collectively. You did point out and I agree that Minn had some wide open nets. We seemed to settle down a bit defensively around the 8 minute mark of the 1st period. Was very happy for Palat and maybe Dougie just said to himself I've got to raise my stock and playing the way I am capable of and if I'm going to be traded contenders will be more interested. As you know, this game could be a complete aberration. I've said it dozens of times we can beat anybody and we can lose to anybody. Consistently inconsistent is this teams identity right now. If they somehow won 6 out of 8 I still would be skeptical. I like you and everyone else am beyond curious what the hell they do defensive lineup wise for tomorrow. I totally agree with your take that Keefe could say well Kovy is coming back from serious injury he's a bit sore and we want to manage that. Or dare I say he could come back with Dilly has been a horse he's a little banged up and we are going to give him a breather? While it didn't show up on the scoresheet I was impressed with Timo's defense and some really good sticks. I'm still a strong advocate of him on PP1 and always will be. I did watch the entire game but got hit by something (aches, cough) and it just wiped me out last night after the game. I put a ton of Manuka honey (expensive and the real stuff) in tea last night and feel a hell of a lot better than last night. The stuff works! Antibacterial properties and anti-inflammatory. Get some and knock that cold you've got out. I will take the win (a good one collectively) but they could shit the bed tomorrow. 1 shift, 1 period, 1 game at a time. It also appears that Keefe is having his strings pulled by Fitz.

  12. Holik was one of my favorites loved him Stevens, of course Johnny. Mac three of my favorite hockey players of all time. Loved Brendan Shanahan specially because he gave Claude Lemieux his nickname turtle. Couldn’t stand Claude. He’d hit people behind the head all the time and then he’d run and hide behind the defenseman. he was a rat total rank rat the other guys when they fought they’d stand up to tell we go at it even if they lost but Claude Lemieux would run like a coward. And I can’t stand a guy over hit players behind the head that’s dangerous. You could kill somebody like that and he was known for that. Otherwise, he was a great player, but I just don’t like rats just as bad as Brad Marchand, who is an amazing player and also a rat. Neither one of those guys needed to be rats, they were tough. They were great players, but to see them hit guys and then run and hide behind their defenseman was pretty disgusting. Did I see them do it behind the head or jamming people in the face with the bottom of the stick Claude did that a couple times too I remember him getting Eric Lindros like that. Totally disgusting. He was an amazing player though, but everybody hated him in the league. He was the most hated player in hockey for good reason and he was a crybaby too. We’ll never like Claude. I know he loves him because he did win us a lot of games and he did great for the devilā€˜s spot. I just can’t respect a rink rat. That’s one thing to fight guys and be tough on the ice but it’s another thing to risk their careers by doing stupid shit dangerous stuff

  13. I’m very lucky I went to a really really good game last night lost my voice out cheered the wild fans the devils hurt me for sure cause I was loud so proud love the team no matter so happy so lucky go to a great game #NJDEVILS 4LIFE ā¤ļøšŸ˜ˆšŸ–¤
