  1. Before you even get to the 6 arbitration years Mr Samson is describing you gotta first get to the major leagues. And that can take 2-4 years or more of grinding in the minor leagues. And in some cases you never make it to the majors thus never even getting to the 6 arb years. You end up living off of whatever minor league deal you signed at age 16-18 years old because the money they actually pay you while in the minor leagues is equivalent to working at Mickey Ds.

  2. Skubal ain’t worth that he has two good season that’s it he’s a 31 year old with two Tommy John’s ! After he sign that long term contract he will be the next Anthony rendon

  3. Wasn't David Price on his 4th year of arbitration though when he got $19.75M? Unlike Skubal wasn't Price a Super 2 player? 4th year arb guys always get more than comparable 3rd year arb guys. You can't really compare someone's 3rd arb year to someone else's 4th arb year. What did Price get the year before he got the $19.75M? That's the record that should be broken. Not the 4th arb year that Skubal hasn't played long enough to even be eligible for. 4th year arbitration should only be compared to other 4th year arbitrations. 3rd year arbitration should only be compared to their other 3rd year or lower arbitration. Skubal isn't just trying to break one record here. He's trying to break 2. He's trying to break the record for 3rd year arbitration and 4th year arbitration at the same time even though he's not even in his 4th year of arbitration. He should definitely break 1 record but I can see how an owner might think breaking the 4th year arb record even though he's not even in his 4th year of arbitration is a bit much.
