  1. Of the 3 guys u picked I would only take Rasmussen Andersson. But the Sharks need to aim higher and get a guy that’s younger like Simon Nemec as RHD or Werenski from Blue Jackets.

  2. Rather have power, still young enough to turn it around and given the opportunity. I don’t think he was ever going to flourish as long as Dahlin and Bryam are there. We won’t have to give up much to get Power

  3. Still thinking that the Jets have more to offer. Pionk and Stanley fill roles that we need ASAP. Stanley can play solid minutes and brings toughness. Pionk is obviously the better player but the 2 of them would definitely move the needle in the positive direction

  4. Grier could always wait a little longer and see what teams are willing to sell or blow up Vancouver, Calgary, St Louis, Winnipeg, Columbus, Ottawa, New York and New Jersey all are at risk of not making playoffs

That give Grier the possibility trading for Rasmus Andersson, Kiefer Sherwood, Jordan Kyrou, Neal Pionk, Charlie Coyle, Adam Fox, Alexis Lafrenier, Dougie Hamilton and Seamus Casey

Another trade that makes sense if the sharks start to fall out of a playoff spot is sending Ned to the senators for a over payment their goaltending is awful and they seem desperate about that

I think ideally Grier gets Hamilton because he changes his mind especially with what’s going on with New Jersey now and how San Jose is a fun destination but Grier demands Seamus Casey since we are doing New Jersey a favor send them small contract depth players and 2nd and or higher round picks that solves 2 RD positions and Eric Polkamp hopefully works out. Grier also could target a failing New York team and get Lafrenier and he now becomes your second line center with Misa and Eklund at his wing and that allows Wennburg to be 3C to get that 3rd line going. I don’t see the sharks having to give up a lot for these moves but it increases the teams chances of getting into the playoffs and not being embarrassed first round

  5. Pionk and Andersen are too old. If they’re looking to add to the young core then they’ll need younger players. Power, Dahlen, Fox, etc… Hell! Maybe even Luke Hughes with all the drama in NJ.

  6. No on Anderson. Not only the over payment but he won't resign at a reasonable price. Power could be acquired but it'll cost. If we're over paying Werenski is the player

  7. Uhm, honestly I don't like either of these options. Power is not worth giving up so much because he didn't really fullfil what we expected from him. If the price is low and we take swing on him, sure but I don't think that Sabres would give up Power for low value. Andersson and Pionk are great Dmen but they don't fit the timeline. Sharks should be focused on young Dman ideally RHD that is good or has the potential like Šimon Nemec for example. But let's wait for what MG cooked for us. Hopefully we'll be not dissapointed lol.

  8. I do like the Owen Power idea and was hoping they might have acquired him a season or two ago when it was rumored that Buffalo was looking to move a defenseman. It just depends on the price (if he is available). His age fits the Sharks timeline, but he is an LD.

With Orlov, Ferraro, Muk, Dickinson and (ugh) Leddy that are fairly deep (not including allan and Cags in the minors).

Anderson would be ok depending on the price but he would be a second choice in comparison to Powe. He is older and would be expensive and (IMHO) not fit the what GMMG is rumored to be looking for.

Pionk's bio sounds like what GMMG likes. I do think that the greatest need for the Sharks with the current defensive unit is a solid second pair defensive RD (preferably a 3 but a 4 is what I expect) and Pionk fits it, but like Anderson price and age do not fit.

In the end any one of these would make our defense better, but all of them require GMMG shipping out at least two defensemen as they have nine now and need to (at minimum) pair that down to eight.

All of them could very well become the best defenseman on the Sharks roster, but two of them are too old and one is on the wrong side requiring GMMG to move multiple LDs currently on the roster.

Of the three I would prefer Owen Power.

My bet is GMMG is looking for a youngish (23-28 year old) RD that is a defensive defenseman who can play second pair minutes (preferably a 3 but a 4 would do). It is going to be an interesting time between now and the Olympic break for sure!

  9. If Hamilton wants to come to San Jose than we can’t give up Premium assets and it can’t be a over payment for a player who’s no longer wanted by New Jersey. The only way we’d get rid of a high draft pick or a decent prospect is if we also get Seamus Casey in the trade

  10. We should trade for Pionk and Owen Power if we can. Pionk would bring the physical play we need on defense and Power would bring the clean zone exits and elite puck control we need.
