19 seasons of winning football, 13 trips to the playoffs, 8 division titles, 3 AFCCGs, 2 Super Bowls, and a Champsionship. It was time to move on, but we can still acknowledge all the amazing things he did for this team over his career.

Thank you for everything, Coach T.

  1. I’ve been around since the 80’s. I have nothing but respect for Mike Tomlin. One of the greats.

  2. Love him or hate him you can’t deny the service that he put in for this franchise. Hopefully he’s successful in whatever his next endeavors may be

  3. We love you, we appreciate you. But I genuinely believe its time for a new vision for the team. I can only thank him for everything hes tried for us good and bad. Ride off into the sunset coach-T

  4. In an Era of Brady and Mahommes and even dragging some very mediocre teams to winning and the playoffs. But that playoff run just didn’t work especially without a QB.

  5. Hello, 2027 historians. Did the Rooneys hire a new coach that took this team from our 10-7 floor to 12,13,14 wins without a franchise QB? Or did we just finish off a “surprise tank” after our season got derailed in November 2026.

  6. I really appreciate everything he did for the team, but my god was it time to move on. I hope he gets a coaching gig elsewhere and succeeds, but things couldn’t stay as they were.

  7. I’m so disappointed this is how it ended. I truly wanted him to succeed again. Through the ups and downs I loved Coach T’s personality. Definitely won’t feel the same without hin.

  8. I’m trying not to cry right now. I knew it had to happen but it doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt like hell.

  9. The change was needed, but I’ll miss that crazy motherfucker and all his Tomlinisms. Thanks for everything, coach.

  10. I hope whoever they bring in is up to the times on the current NFL football landscape. We need “new” badly. Playing like it’s still the 80s-2010s isn’t it for a long time now.

  11. Got us to 2 superbowls and nearly won 2. No losing seasons means he competed every year and had us believing no matter how lacking the roster. 8 Division titles, alot of them when our division was a gauntlet.

Kept the respect of the organization league wide, made Pittsburgh a destination for some great players despite not being the most update to date/spending FO.

Dude matched Noll wins in significantly less games. Could have bounced when Ben got washed to protect his ego/record but stuck around to keep us from enduring 3-6 win seasons that easily could have been.

    1st Ballot HoF coach. Legend.

  12. He will be inducted into the Hall of Fame someday, and deservedly so. He’s a great coach, regardless of whether he was the one the Steelers needed right now. I wish him the best.

  13. I’m a Ravens fan, but I’ve got nothing but respect for Coach Tomlin. The consistency, leadership, and culture he’s built in Pittsburgh is unreal. Rivalries aside, that’s what a great coach looks like!

  14. Agreed. How many other coaches have stats like that. Only one team can win the superbowl every year.

I’m going to miss him, I grew up watching Cowher, and watching other teams go through coaches like diapers, it was great to see a team that stood by their coach.

He leaves with no scandals, no controversies, and he is leaving as a legend.

And Pittsburgh fans are sometimes the worst. Talking trash and wanting to replace a player or coach or manager because they got unlucky, had a bad game or were just beaten by a better team or player. You can’t win them all.

I look at Fleury as an example. So much hate for an amazing goalie.

  15. Mad respect for Coach T and everything he’s done for Steeler Nation, still can’t believe this is real

  16. This is the way, your post here. I think it was best for us and best for him, a la Andy Reid in Philly. I think he’s a good coach who will have success if he coaches again. But I wish him nothing but the best. 20 years, a SB, a lot of good memories. We owe Tomlin nothing but respect.

  17. This team is going to miss Tomlin.

I became a fan in 2004. I had no team, and was told to just follow the draft. Pick a player you like, and go with the team that drafts them. I saw highlights of Manning, Rivers, and Roethlisberger. I went with Big Ben since he was stiff arming DT’S, juking LB’s, and launching bombs downfield.

Everyone since I became a fan, I haven’t endured one single losing season, mainly due to Tomlin, but also Cowher.

This truly is the end of an era, and he deserves way more love and appreciation than he received towards the end.

Nothing but respect. Wish him success in his next chapter and things of that nature.

  19. It was time to go. Like a breakup, I don’t hate you but we are no longer compatible. I still love you, but this benefits us both. Goodspeed, Mike T.

  20. It’s funny. Mike Sullivan won two championships and achieved a higher peak during his time, but when I got the news that the Pens let him go I thought “thank fucking goodness”.

I just feel sad hearing this news. It’s a move that probably should have been made years ago, but that doesn’t make it any less sad.

Thanks for the memories Mike. And good luck wherever you end up next.

  21. I’ve been saying they need to fire him for while now but it still almost made me cry when I heard it was true.  Truly the end of an era.  May be find success in whatever he wishes to do after this.

  22. nobody wants to hear it on this subreddit, but we will look back on this and rue this day. Mike Tomlin DRAGGED talent deficient teams to the playoffs over and over. He is the model of consistency. He took a team with one of the worst offenses I have ever seen in my life to a DIVISION TITLE

  23. I’m not even a Steelers fan and I was always jealous of you guys when it came to HC and org in general. It’s so crazy that Mike and John both gone at the same time. Like a ridiculous changing of the guard.

  24. One game in 19 years when we were eliminated from contention. That’s something that I think I took for granted. Uncertain times ahead but so many amazing memories from one hell of a run

That ravens game feels extra special now
