It’s January 14 and this goober still hasn’t been fired after a season worth of Special Teams blunders

  1. I’m assuming he won’t be fired until they know if MLF is going to be the coach next year

  2. He won’t be fired until they sort out MLF’s contract or at least finish the end of year interviews with all the coaches that are happening right now.

  3. I was hyped for him after his takeover of the raiders that went well. But now it’s like FFS. What are we doing

  4. On the one hand, I’m not convinced Bisaccia is the problem. Our special teams has been in the cellar for the past fifteen years, and it seems to mostly be a player personnel issue. On the other hand, I don’t see how he can keep his job as the highest-paid special teams coordinator in the league after four years of failure culminating in a season where special teams cost us multiple games and knocked us out of the playoffs.

  5. Not his fault, the team doesn’t prioritize special teams in practice or in acquisition. Blaming him is shortsighted.

  6. I get we have special teams issues and we should fire him but that isn’t going to make a huge difference. Rich was one of the best ST coordinators when we hired him.

The issue is the team doesn’t put an emphasis on the players they need to have a good special teams. It’s offense and defense first with young guys to develop into starters while patching together a special teams unit. This is the reason we have had bad special teams for 15 years with multiple different coaches.

The days of having special teams aces on this team are long gone because those are roster spots they clearly value with guys they want to grow into starters and usually special team aces are journey men who are not fighting to start and develop.

It’s not my favorite thing the packers do but Rich and all previous special team coach get a lot more blame then the org or GM do for putting them in that position.

  7. Firstly, id fire rich still but I’m gonna say this loud and clear. This is not a coordinator issue guys. Go look at the last two decades you’ll see the same results no matter the coordinator.

It’s an organization issue. Matt doesn’t let rich use whoever he wants off the roster, meaning our best players aren’t playing the special team plays. Secondly, we haven’t cared to draft a kicker of high pedigree, we don’t care to invest any substantial money or draft capital into the positions either. Therefore, rich is left with a shit sandwich.

  8. You need to edit your headlight to say “yet another” season of special teams failures. What the hell were we doing having Jacobs returning KO’s in the 4th quarter of the Bears game??? Did Nixon refuse? It’s the only thing he was even moderately good at.

  9. Different coaches same problem. Maybe the coach isn’t the problem.

He doesn’t recover the kicks or kick the FGs.

  10. In Bisaccia’s first year with the special teams we went from last to middle of the pack in terms of special teams efficiency. Then we gave him more coaching duties effectively making him assistant head coach and not the special teams coach (idk what the duties are but just what MLF has said in the past).

He isn’t the problem, the problem is lack of practice & personnel. That’s a MLF & Gutey issue. Gutey would rather keep a developmental O-line prospect in Yosh Nijman for four years while getting one year of spot starts instead of good returners or a special teams ace.

  11. Man. And the Raiders’ players lobbied so hard for him to be their permanent HC after he replaced Gruden.

  12. I have a feeling that all staffing matters are on a brief pause as part of MLF’s contract negotiation. Policy may be putting his foot down and saying, these folks need to go.

  13. There’s no point in firing him if we don’t know if MLF is coming back yet or not while negotiations are going on.

  14. MLF needs to alter his coaching style. He needs to adopt a more no nonsense type of approach. No more buddy buddy crap. Youre there to win championships not coddle players. I get that he cares about the players and all that but these guys are paid handsomely and they need to perform at a high level. If not, youre not on the team.. The standard needs to be raised for all captains and leaders of this team. Hold players and coaches accountable. If they arent practicing special teams enough then then fix it! Its been this teams achilles heel the last few years. Always seems to creep up on them at the worst times.

I’d also like to see Matt Lafleur unleash some fire. Ive never seen him yell or get loud in the locker room. Its always him pacing around reading game stats on a note card… Speak from the heart! get the players fired up! To where they want to go kill the other team on every down! I see other coaches doing it every week. Its something thats been nonexistent in the packers locker room for awhile now.
