We didn’t want him. His fastball has diminished and He doesn’t go deep into games. His contract won’t age well. I know we’re all frustrated but I’m happy we’re not signing guys just for the sake of signing someone. This roster needed an overhaul after years of mediocrity. That usually doesn’t happen in one offseason.
The fact that my friend who’s a die hard Phillies fan and is all into the numbers and stuff wanted nothing to do with resigning Ranger should tell you all you need to know.
I’m fine not doing this. Still need a starter though
Who’s left?
So this probably takes Boston out of the Peralta sweepstakes I guess
Holy overpay
Was really hoping he’d resign in Philly. The contract is gonna be an albatross sooner than later.
Not surprising the Mets didn’t outbid that. Bad stuff+, a buy high, and never has thrown 160 IP in a season. Doesn’t really match what the Mets need or looking for at SP (other than someone to throw innings which they can get elsewhere for cheaper).
Reminds me a lot of taijuan walker.
91 mph fastball now now probably looks like 89mph by the end of that contract. Woof.

This reminds me of when the Yanks signed Fried after we got Soto.
Good for them, but it doesn’t address the Bregman-sized bat missing in their lineup.
Won’t miss facing him, annoying watch
Wait no way. He didn’t want a 2 year deal and took a 5 year deal instead?
That’s a bummer. I wanted him
Glad it’s an al team getting better and our division foes got worse
So, will Framber get a similar deal, because I don’t see us going anywhere near that. (5 years/$130m)
