Joe Thomas on Mike Tomlin, John Harbaugh, the Browns’ HC search & Shedeur Sanders development
The Cleveland Browns are in the middle of a head coaching search, and according to a report from Jay Glazer, they’re already setting terms. They want Jim Schwartz to stay! Candidates are being told that defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz is expected to remain in place, signaling that Cleveland wants to preserve its defensive identity while searching for the next head coach.
From Berry’s public comments about finding the “right partner” for the team’s present situation to reports of offensive-minded candidates being interviewed, it’s clear the Browns don’t see themselves as a bad football team — they see a broken offense attached to a proven defense.

This team has the worst offensive roster out of any of the job openings. Including the 3 premium positions on offense. LT, QB, WR. Cupboard bare. As well as zeroooo starters under contract for next year on the o line.
This team has the worst salary cap issues of any of the job openings. Which is important because you have so many holes and thus limits your ability to fix them.
This team has the most meddlesome owner as any of the job openings.
You’re not getting a top candidate here.
I want the Grant Udinski kid and Schwartz I think that would and could be the best combination for Shadeur and the Team.
Quarterbacks are different for a reason. No quarterback going to play the same and what bad habits his career going to be a whole lot better than yours
Bull, Flores runs a 3-4 defense… We are not close to having the personal for that! Once again Bull makes a jerkoff of himself.
The funny part is we don't need a coach to build a culture. Sanders is the coacher that's the part y'all not getting. If y'all don't want to change our culture don't pick me. Remember that😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This dude is stuck on culture. What culture is a coach give? Is the quarterback that give the coaching not not the coach. Do I have to remind you of the Ravens Lamar? Is the coacher at the Ravens by Baltimore?
Pukesburg will replace the Browns as a bottom feeder!
Peyton Manning
Could you imagine a new coach signing up for the clickbait, conspiracy, sabotage Shedeur nonsense?
We’ve seen dudes go from ESPN to FS1, so there’s that
Canibals it’s a certain nationality who eats medium rare….im pretty sure they have parasites
Sanders sucks , we gotta move on from that bum
Medium wellish
Shut up
Medium rare….gross!
Did Joe Thomas put Christmas lights, sunglasses and a hat on his HOF bust?! 😂😂😂
Tone setter…high degree of respect required…keep Schwartz…get a guy that can demand everyones attention when they speak.
Browns won one game handily not the Raiders…the Dolphins…why hire their coach? S S does NOT look like an nfl starter to me…but both DG and SS will be better year 2
Here's what we're doing if we're smart: we want to be ready for the 2027 QB class while giving Shedeur a full, fair shot to show out all 2026.
— Pick No. 6: Francis Mauigoa (OT). You can't buy an elite LT/RT in free agency; they never hit the market. You must draft them.
— Pick No. 24: Denzel Boston. Browns get a young WR1 on the same trajectory as their QB. They grow together.
— Free Agency: Jauan Jennings or Alec Pierce. Affordable WR2/WR3 who don't complain about blocking and can stabilize the room.
— Interior Line: Draft Vega Ioane (G, Penn State) in the 2nd round. He’s Kiper’s No. 1 Guard and could replace Bitonio if needed.
Fans might not want to pass on Carnell Tate at Pick #6 for a Tackle, but if we take Mauigoa, the O-line gets a ton of help it needs. Not much more needs to be said about that. Now, Denzel Boston… he is an ideal WR1 for Shedeur. He's the "Scramble Drill" king: 6'4" and 210 lbs, scouts highlight his catch radius and solid hands. He's noted for his "basketball background" footwork: he knows how to box out a corner and make himself a massive, stationary target for a QB who had to bail out of the pocket. He has an elite 61.1% contested catch rate. That is absurdly high for college. For context, most "good" prospects hover around 45-50%. He’s only had 5 drops on 204 career targets. Boston is not a speed guy. He’s not going to outrun the entire secondary. But if a play breaks down, he’s the guy who stays in the QB's vision and plucks the ball out of the air while two defenders are draped on him. He is the ultimate "security blanket." That's the kind of WR1 you want for any QB. The game is played 10 yards at a time.
Coach matters so very little to all of this… but here's a left field idea: Robert Saleh as the high-energy culture-setter who satisfies that "Dan Campbell" physical presence, Jim Schwartz staying on as the "de facto head coach of the defense" (a specific condition reportedly being messaged to all candidates), and Tommy Rees, the 33-year-old "savant" who already has a rapport with Shedeur Sanders running the offense. This setup works because it creates retains continuity on defense while placing a veteran "leader of men" at the top to filter out the noise. Rees is allowed to focus entirely on whether Shedeur is the long-term answer. We’re giving our current QB the best possible protection and a true WR1 to prove he's the guy, and if he does hit a ceiling in 2026 with a solid offensive line, a talented young WR1, and a full off-season & pre-season, then we’ve built a disciplined, elite-level infrastructure that's a better spot for a 2027 draft QB like Arch Manning than it was before.
If you want to promote Schwartz to HC, you can hire Saleh as DC if he'd take the job. Not likely, though. Then we got another opening to take care of…
It’s like Joe Thomas always knew what to say
Tired of us wanted leftovers from our rivals
Joe don't like Shaduer either …he was one who thought he was worse than Gabriel… everyone who said it still on some bullshit…Joe Shaduer is the best qb Cleveland had since you played including when you played
I wanted to draft McNabb because we had Kevin Johnson our WR1 but we drafted Tim Couch after listening to Joe he was probably a big voice for couch bumb ass
Joe, please come be on the staff!! O line coach, advisor…. Something!!! Please!!!
