[The Athletic] Yankees’ playoff hero thrilled about son’s trade to Bronx: ‘Full-circle moment’

  1. Wild coincidence that we got his dad from the Marlins. He wasn’t very good for us in the regular season but he was money in the 96 playoffs and got a ring. Hopefully that’s how it ends for his son this year.

  2. David Weathers was starting for the Yankees the first time my dad took me to Yankee Stadium in August of 96, so I’ve always had a soft spot for him and was kinda excited to see this trade happen.

  3. 11 innings and just one run surrendered in the ’96 postseason. I knew I had some fond memory of Weathers, but until just now I’d only looked at his regular season stint with the Yanks and it wasn’t pretty. It’s very cool he rose to the occasion and got a ring. I’m looking forward to seeing his son this season.

And that was his only postseason in a 19 year career. Way cool.
