Deal is reportedly for 5/$130, just a day after ESPN said Boston needed to be more active this offseason.

The deal is, by AAV, slightly better than the QO from the Phillies, as well as the 5 years. And, since he was tendered that:

Suarez was tendered a $22.025 million qualifying offer by the Phillies, which he declined by the Nov. 18 deadline. Because he signed with a new team, Philadelphia will receive a compensatory draft pick after the fourth round.

Per Boston's offseason in general, it seems like a decent but not spectacular move.

  1. Well it stings less that he went to an AL team. One of those guys you just wish there was room for.

I am sure he will continue to go out and dominate. Phillies look to be trusting their farm and prospects this year for pitching.

  2. Hurts to see him leave. Loved his swag. Boston gets a gamer. Nothing but love here for Ranger.
