  1. Steve once said on Marlon Humphrey's podcast that "the only thing better than being rich and famous is being rich." He doesn't want the spotlight which is why he has so few public appearances in his capacity as the Ravens owner.

  2. The first time Michael McCaskey invited me to a Bears game he explained to me that I couldn't wear any Packers regalia to the game. If he was the ranking member of the ownership family he sat in the owners' box, and otherwise he liked to sit in the stands with the fans. His brother George had just taken over as President of the team so we were going to sit in the stands. I'm a wiseass, so I made a wisecrack when I answered him about the Packers gear. Later, he called me back and said, listen, just so you understand, I was serious about you not wearing any green and gold, no matter how small—"if I'm seen sitting next to a guy wearing Packers stuff, a big picture of it will be on the front page of the Chicago Sun-Times the next morning." I reassured him I wouldn't. And as a courtesy to Michael I also memorized the words to the Bears' fight song so I could sing along. So yeah, Steve can't sit next to a Bengals fan when the Ravens play the Bengals. No matter how famous.

I still have the Bears legacy cap I bought for that game along with some other Bears stuff. Where I live now, deep in Bills country, people think it's a Red Sox hat. 🙂

  3. 6:23 “for a week” that’s pretty savage. If I was a ravens fan, I’d feel comfortable with an owner like this. Colts fans—y’all still want to see your owner taking notes on the sidelines of games after seeing this?

  4. Guys in positions like that don't often get, or stay, in positions like that, by letting other people make the decisions. Hearing and considering other's opinions is great – especially the opinions of people who's opinion you respect, but you have to make the decision.

  5. Great leaders take input but own the decision… I know the media wants to put the coaching pick on Lamar but that's not his job. Great coaches get you 2-3 additional wins a season and at least 1 in the playoffs
