Good visual chart at who could be in the running. Can we get Shula to bring Sheelhaase with him to be the OC but also keep Grandpa Bazooka as our ST coach?

  1. I’ve seen a lot of people mention John Gruden, I’m not a fan of that choice but apparently he thinks Will Howard is the next big thing.

  2. Klint or Nate. I’d like an offensive guy, it’d be nice to not need a second game on so I don’t feel like I’m wasting my time for a change. It’d also help make up for whatever QB we’re stuck with’s inevitable skill limitations.

  6. Klint Kubiak is my #1 guy by a large margin. But I doubt he’s the hire. They want to go defensive again. It will be Shula or Flores.

    I don’t mind Shula but if he brings Scheelhaase as OC and the offense does well he will get a HC job elsewhere. Really want to lock up an offensive guru as HC.

  7. Shula actually would be my go to. He has extensive defensive resume coaching DBs, LBs, and entire defense and been with LA under McVay since 2017. Good resume and comes from football royalty as well.

  10. I don’t know anything about the search, but I’m now in the sentimental phase of Tomlin leaving. I changed my flair from fire Tomlin.

  11. I’m sure I’m in the minority but I’d definitely think about Stefanski. Give him a stable front office and his coordinators with some time to retool. Would also look at Daboll or McCarthy.

    I’d bet they hire Flores or Shula tho

  15. I said it in another thread, but I think Jaguars DC Anthony Campanile is a sneaky candidate I could see happening. He’s an up and coming guy who has had some success with a few different defenses, is a very passionate “leader of men” that’s loved by a lot of players, and kind of fits the culture with an emphasis on physicality. He also did work with Flores and Hafley who are on this list.

    I think overall my favorite choice would be Shula if he gets to bring over Scheelhaase as OC. Minter could be good as well, but I don’t know as much about him.

    The only offensive minded guy I feel relatively confident in as HC would be Kubiak, but I think it’s extremely unlikely he would choose us.

  17. Do we really want Flores with the way he treated Tua? There’s too much drama in Miami and finger pointing when Flores was there.

  22. Kubiak or bust. We need to modernize as a team and getting the O going is key. You can hire a super solid vet D coordinator that Will never get poached. You cannot do this on O.

  25. I’m curious what difference an offensive vs. defensive HC hire makes. As long as they hire decent coordinators and don’t interfere it shouldn’t really make a ton of difference would it? Like if we hire Shula is our pick and he hires a quality offensive coach who can scheme up the right plays what the HC’s defensive background matter?

  30. This is so interesting to see. This is the first time there will be a new HC in my lifetime and I’m so invested now. Will miss Mike but on to the next era.

  31. I wouldn’t be overly mad at Shula or Kubiak to be honest with you. But they need to bring in new positional coaches cos jesus tapdancing Christ if I see another season of Pat fucking Meyer I might cry.

  33. If they’re going to actually rebuild. The Steelers need an offensive mind that can build a young offense while the defense is aging.

  36. It could be any of the under 40s, but I don’t believe for a second it’ll be any former HC.

  37. I think an offensive minded HC would suit us more. Given they will develop a rookie QB & provide stability with our offence, not get poached for HC jobs & our rookie QB has to learn a new offense over & over.
