Can the Browns afford to take a “BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE” strategy in the 2026 NFL Draft?

The die is cast. Or, in the case of the Cleveland Browns, their picks in the first round of the 2026 NFL draft are set.

The Browns will select players at Nos. 6 and 24, courtesy of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ loss to the Buffalo Bills during wild-card weekend.

Although the draft is the least of the team’s worry considering they’re in the midst of a coaching search, it’s ever present in the minds of fans and draft analysts. While picks for the full first round won’t come until after the Super Bowl, some draft analysts are already in the weeds with Pro Football Focus leading the way with the most notable take of the week. | https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/pro/browns/2026/01/12/2026-nfl-mock-draft-browns-jordyn-tyson-kadyn-proctor/88143941007/

  1. This is one of the most criminally stupid discussions I’ve heard. The reason the Browns are in the position they are is because Barry would make stupid choices like a defensive tackle in the 2025 draft when they had a critical need for wide receivers and offensive linemen. And what a shock! The team floundered because of terrible offensive line play and no quality wide receivers. This cannot happen again!

The Browns have critical needs for offensive linemen, especially a left offensive tackle, as well as for wide receivers. If they can’t get the number one offensive tackle or the number one wide receiver in the draft, pick the number two! This isn’t rocket science. It’s what quality teams do.

  2. Yall buggin lol.. I’d trade back to like 8-10 and get that WR… a tackle gone be there at 24…best available after that. Probably that DT from Georgia. Give me edge or corner in third, guard after that, and some special teams players. Fixed

  3. The main problem I have is to see the worst GM in sports histories face still here ?? Why ? After all this BS around Watson why do we have only two first round picks and then drop all the way down to the fifth round? Can this piece of shit GM why is his ass still on team ?

  4. We need to take the best available wide out and the best available offensive tackle in that order with the two firsts with zero trade downs. The second should be the best available player provided he's either a wide out or an offensive tackle. Period. Don't get cute, Berry. Stop being a "mastermind" and just use these very high picks to get talented players in the areas of greatest need. We need two tackles and two wide outs, we have the draft capital to get three of those players. Use it!

  5. Tyvis needs to go. I can’t deal with a guy who has that high of a voice. it’s not natural. I never had a voice that hi. Even when I was a kid. Either Tyvis never hit puberty or we got some other concerns

  6. The hell with best available, they have to take the best left tackle. The Browns have screwed themselves for the last 4 years with a swing and a miss. Their line got old in 4 years bro.

  7. But you can not reach for anything or player all of this is reckless speculation free agency and trades in front of us will decide what we can do or should do,

  8. At the same time drafting a wr in the first round for us and not adding a true vet in free agency is leaving Judy to still be the vet in the wr room and can you live with him being the standard and example for your future number one wr?

  9. The Browns need OL. They need receivers. When they do the usual, picking some defensive lineman that won't crack the lineup. Then you know Berry must go

  10. Just like I SAID. When the "ultimate Cleeland Sports Show" does not talk about Shedeur Sanders the views are 9K and 7K yesterday. WITH Sh3edeur Sanders TWENTY THOUSAND TWO TH"OUSAND views MINIMUM! THAT is why they are hypocrites. They constantly criticize this young QB, unfairly, but KEEP USING HIM to get views even when the season is over, the topic is not relevant, and the question is misdirected to the guest.

  11. Fix the pathetic offensive roster‼️ There is a process in life called INVENTORY ROTATION — apply it every draft thereafter – equally to ALL skill rooms‼️ Browns just ride their “workmule” to its death & then act surprised that it died.

  12. So dont pick a projected generational talent so you can instead draft a guy who isnt even projected as top ten in his position? Because team needs?

First off. They could solve a lot in FA and nolonger need a wr1 or LT. Second, we do have a need in the safety room. Third, you may not like the top OT or WR at 6.

Id be happy with a top OT, but Downes is a great pick.

  13. On a serious note…
    1) The Browns have a lot of holes.
    2) Fanin, Swes, Sheduer, etc. were all impact players. None drafted in the first.
    3) At this point, we need the cake. Not the cherries. You can trade 1 first one pick (tate) to get two upper echelon lineman.
    4) We saw how that worked at Colorado. Fuck sexy. Get the meat. WRs are beneficiaries, not creators. That O-line beefs up, both the run game & passing game benefit.

  14. Alright… Here we go boys. This is the vision.
    1) Trade down. 1st this year. 2nd this year. +value for next year.
    2) Trade down again. 1st this year + 2nd this year.
    3) W/ Browns 1st, draft Kenyon Sadiq.
    4) In the second round, draft the 2 best linemen, outside of left tackle.
    5) 2026 Get Jordan Seaton & Goddamn that boy from Ohio.

TEs highest 1st rd hit rate. IOL 2nd highest hit rate at top of draft. TE’s are rookie QBs best friends. TEs can help w/ blocking schematically while benefitting pass game. Bond can play. Familiarity between J seat + Sheduer expedites learning curve.

Sheduer, Judkins, Bonds, Fanin,Sadiq, Seaton, both them other RBs… Like, this is a legitimate possibility. We just need a forward vision.
