If the ricketts spent more time and money on the team versus lining the pockets of the RNC, then maybe we would have had world Series as frequent as the dodgers.
Giving 2 top prospects for a number 3 pitcher who always gets injured
Just because the Cubs still have cash to spend absolutely does not mean go out and sign a older overpaid veteran just to block a young 1st round stud lol Thank God Jed runs the Cubs over these YouTube Gm's online lol.
pls stop with the Cassie was some can't miss prospect ROFL he was an average at best outfielder that struggled against lefty pitching and looked overmatched in the big leagues, i liked the kid but this trade will make the Cubs better this year for sure.
The only 2 I see in Chicago is Bellinger or Tucker because now without Cassie we don’t have that lefty bat
Now they can sign Bellinger ❤, forget Bergman.😊
Nick in here pretending Owen doesn't have a huge hole in his swing and will strike out a ton is odd.
Marathon Watching 1/9/26 Thanks again Mick! Great show!
MATT SHAW IS MY THIRD BASEMAN!
I agree if the Cubs feel like they’re done because they picked up Cabrera and pocket the money then it’s a failure of an off-season.
However I will go one step beyond using the extra money for one bat …Ian Happ waives his no trade going to a contender to free up some money and bring back some replacement prospects.
Then…
Sign Bregman or Bichette and Bellinger. Matt Shaw becomes super utility and then you can see whether they can extend Nico or not.
Jed isn’t getting payroll up to the tax, he can’t beat the brewers with $90m more than them. Payroll will be around 220-225m
Has Bichette even said he would play third? They will not be able to trade Dansby's contract. Their defense is a strength, cannot compromise defense
They had money last year after they dumped Bellinger‘s salary. Yet they never spent it so I have no faith that they will do this year. I’ll believe it when I see it.
Tucker would be a game changer if he doesn't get hurt two or three times during the course of the year. Then
I wish that he will run out all ground balls.
We shouldn’t have traded Owen Caissie for a guy that’s gonna walk in 3 years, constantly injured
Let's not forget Alcantra
It will be so Cub of them to not sign a big bat.
Mick, a couple of points to make. 1) How much importance to you put on WAR when comparing Dansby vs Bichett? Compare the hitting numbers in 2025, the WAR and knowing the difference in defense ability. After taking a deep look at both, I'd love to hear your thoughts. 2) Suzuki hit .245 with 32 HR last yr. Why wouldn't the Cubs not only feel good with him full time in RF but re-sign him? And 3) Given Suzuki could possibly be in RF for the next 2+ yrs, wouldn't you think Bichette or Bregman makes the most sense for the next say…3 – 5 yrs?
Nice show Mick. Sign Bichette for 3b. Shaw can be a super sub in 2026 and still get 350 AB’s. Brujan and Berti were awful subs.
Sign Nico extension. In 2027 Shaw can go back to 3b and Bichette can go to LF. Happ won’t be extended.
I think Bo because he doesnt have Boras
It looks to me like the Marlins dumped Cabrera because of excessive injuries. Sure hope not. But I truly believe Caissie’s going to
Be a big, big star. I guess we’ll see, huh?
Trading Caissie is going to haunt the Cubs for years.
I think Dansby is set and they are looking to get Bichette in case Nico leaves. I am sure Counsel can make it work out with those guys in a Cubs uniform. I would get Bichette and try to extend Nico. Maybe get Bichette to play 3rd base, where he can become a better glove with less room to cover.
I think they need two bats
You’re not trading dansby lol. Nico is the one your trading. Bichette is a terrible SS and Dansby is already signed long term. Bichette going to Philly though so it doesn’t matter
Let’s look at this for a second Houston spends money. New York spends money. Boston spends money. The Dodgers spend money the giant spend money. Philadelphia spends money. The Mets spend money. The Cardinals in the past have spent money the Brewers for where the market is are spending money Atlanta spends money. San Diego has spent money. Arizona has spent money and what have the cub done recently actually for quite a while now compared to each other teams Cubs act more like a small market team like bottom third than the top five this is just reality so do I see them spending money like the third largest market in all baseball definitely not not even Close so whenever the Cubs gonna spend money???
As a third largest market in all baseball, honestly never, and I have come to accept that. I don’t think other fans have yet though our routines are shopping at Tiffany’s and we are at the dollar store and Walmart. It doesn’t mean you can find some deals at the dollar store in Walmart, but we are not going to get top and quality the thing that we need right now is we need a back to replace Tucker or we have to keep Tucker and the ladder is not gonna happen no way I’m saying it right here and now there’s no way Tucker is playing for this team next year. He’s gonna be a blue Jay. Yeah I’ll pay for next year is gonna be Happ , PCA, and Suzuki and there is the slight possibility and I’m saying the site that we acquire another third base I don’t think that’s gonna happen Matt Shaw is gonna be opening day starter at third base in order for the cups is exceed next year Happ it’s going to have to hit at a 280 pace all year consistently and that goals for PCA and Suzuki Matt Shaw is gonna have to hit 250 Swanson going to have to hit at 270 Nico‘s gonna be Nico and he’s gonna hit close to 300 Bush has to put up the same number as he did last year and whoever we finally decide on as a DH is gonna have to hit as well I don’t think we’re gonna go outside and get one Denon and only then with the Cubs win the division and the pitching staff has to be decent as well no injuries. I don’t think the colder is nailed down yet, but whoever that finally is they gotta be good. They have to be lights off these things happen. It comes will be OK but there are a lot of questions here.
Is the thinking more Suzuki in RF and Baillesteros more DH duty? I like MB but that’s a huge gamble. Give me Tucker or Bregman. Or at least lock PCA up to a long extension so we don’t lose him to free agency.
Why so anti Nico spend money on him
Yup, we lost a star for another injury prone pitcher….I miss OC.
Can you imagine having Cam smith and OC and Mo in the line up next year??? These guys are young and we lost the future of the Cub's lineup after old Dansby and Happ. Dansby and Happ suck big
I think they get a bat too, it's just a matter of which one. As much as I'd want Bichette, the smart money would be on Bregman, which I would be more than ok with.
Where do the Cubs stand in the next four big free agents? They got 30 some odd million below the luxury tax right now in baseball the Cubs can’t afford to go above the luxury tax. Are the Cubs gonna spend like the Cubs can spend ???? 1:16 or the Cubs gonna spend like the Cubs can’t spend.????? The Cubs can afford to spend wow and above the luxury tax that’s how much money the Cubs organization is that’s how much clout they have. It did decide to do it to use it in baseball market. They are in Apex predator here for resources and wealth. They can go well beyond meaning they can afford to go well beyond the luxury tax. They’re choosing not to the Cubs need to act like the Cubs throw their weight around. They need to act like the third largest market in all baseball, for the third largest marking all baseball, they stingy they’re cheap cheap cheap cheap cheap cheap must see again they’re cheap. There’s a third baseman out there. There’s a short stop out there. There are two right fielders that are out there. The cubs can’t afford to get one of them. They can’t afford Tucker. They can fold Cody Bellinger as well as the other two I’m not seeing all four. I’m saying, one of the four. and you hear us talked at the Cubs don’t wanna go above the luxury tax come on people for crying all out. There are Chicago Cubs. They should start acting like the Cubs, but I don’t think that’s gonna happen it’s all about the money that’s what it is money money money, money money they rather have more money than than putting together a championship team and I mean it’s not like the cups are not making any money. They’re making a ton of money, they would make a ton of money above and beyond the luxury tax. But the Cubs organization is like we can make more money if we don’t win wedding cuts into our profit margin and that’s all we really care about. This is what separates the Cubs from the Dodgers the Giants, the Yankees, the Blue Jays, the Mets, the Phillies, the Astros to name a few. are the Cubs ever gonna spend money like the bad ass third largest market in all of baseball no, they’re not..
I think the Cubs with the cassie trade making way for a Tucker offer.
That sound at the end is so freaking loud lmao. Please fix
The Cubs need a pitcher who can be an ace so Owen Caisse loss is no big deal! He can turn out to be another Matt Mervis? he didn't really impress the Cubs so he's a Marlin now just like Mash Mervis so minor league stats don't mean crap!
The OC trade debacle just doesn’t make sense, because Ricketts would have loved Caissie taking over right field and letting Tucker walk. This blunder is Hoyer’s. Now is the time for Ricketts to open the wallet and get Bregman or Bichette.
I highly doubt that they would look to trade Dansby if they sign Bichette. The more likely scenario would be to play Bichette at 3B. Use Shaw as a utility guy for a year until they decide if they will try to re-sign Nico long-term. If they go with Nico, then Shaw can be traded. I think it will be Bichette or Bregman to play 3B instead of signing another outfielder. If they can get Tucker for their price, I'd love to have him back. Thanks.
