So, making up for 0 INTs in the regular season is why Valentine went for that silly pick in the Wild Card game.
I really thought Valentine would turn into a competent Corner. Man got manhandled on numerous occasions.
Parsons too injured to make it to the slideshow?
Van ness stepped up, felt like he had 5-7 sacks.
Damn Parsons stat is wild compared to the others đź’€
I liked what I saw of Karl Brooks in the wild card game. He had some nice pressures at the end of the season.
Honestly, not surprised by Gary. Never thought he would be the guy or a consistent contributor. My biggest disappointment is Van Ness. Not because I thought he’d ball out but he was the guy I thought could take the biggest jump
And Gary’s numbers all came from seemingly the first like 8 weeks of the season
Goes to show how much was given up to Dallas for Parsons…Kenny Clark impacted the defense more than most thought…I would’ve still traded for Parsons, no doubt. Just imagine if they were able to keep Clark and trade away someone else for Parsons.
Defense didn’t generate enough turnovers
Gave up 25 in the 4th to the bears in a playoff game
Add a column for yards given away due to penalties.
I’m a big fan of jj Enagbare he plays hard never quits and makes big plays every once in a while
LVN… It’s time
I just really hope Gute never takes another 1st round flyer on a guy based on athletic potential even though he did not produce in college.
Nixon really thinks he did something with those numbers
He definitely still has a lot of progress to make but I can still see Valentine progressing into a solid CB 2, which I’d be perfectly happy with being that he’s was 7th round pick. Still wish we could have seen Kalen King actually suit up and play in a few games for us when he was here as well
I really thought that Quay and Cooper were going to have some decent sack numbers this season. Granted that was before we traded for Parsons but even afterwards I was a little disappointed in the pass rushing schemes. It was basically up to Parsons to work his ass off every play and everyone else just kind of hung out waiting for him to get to the QB.
Was quite happy with some of our performers this year. Quay Walker looked okay but noticably has focused on his leadership and behavior. Would like to see a little more speed and inside pass coverage. Evan Williams has been the most exciting to watch. He’s fierce and puts in amazing hustle . Nixon played an amazing mid season but really felt he dropped off. We got a get some tools to stop the run though. Also big fan of Wooden and Enagbare. I hope we can keep these players for a while.
No stats on 15 yard penalties for Nixon?
I don’t think we’ve talked enough about Karl Brooks dropping off after a really promising rookie year. He looked like he had a lot of potential, but has just never developed into anything other than a mediocre starter. Had four sacks as a rookie, 3.5 in year two, and just 0.5 this year.
Nixon’s blurb needs to include yardage lost to penalty because that’s his biggest impact
Outside of Cooooooooooooop…Everybody is available
We definitely have our personnel issues but damn do I love our LB trio and S trio. Sheesh 🔥
Gary has been bringing us down for 8 years. He never came close to being the talent of a #12 overall pick.
His entire career has been average; we could have had same or better production for a fraction of the price.
I think snap count is more important than games played when it comes to the edge rushers. Van Ness’s numbers don’t look amazing but they’re comparable to Enagbare despite having almost half the amount of snaps, per the source another commenter provided. I think he’s shown improvement finally, but is it enough to actually earn another contract?
I’m over Gary and LVN
Most sad are LVN and Valentine but most depressing is LVN being a 1st rnd draft pick
We obviously need to improve at CB. But beyond that, we need to replace McDuffie with a LB who excels in coverage. Edge is our only LB who can cover and we end up wasting a versatile weapon who could be deployed and schemed to devastating effect because he’s needed in coverage. Plus, if something happens to Coop, we’re fucked against quality TEs. Loveland destroyed us when Coop went down. Bears couldn’t move the ball up to that point.
Cooper never really stepped up in my opinion. Was expecting many more TFLs and he really stunk in pass coverage. Thought we finally had a guy who could have around 10 pbu and 3-4 picks but he just stood in the middle of the field.
it would be more interesting if total snaps were included in the stats: Enegbare 468, Van Ness 263, Gary 653, Parsons 707.
Enegbare had a pressure or sack every 18 snaps played. Van Ness every 15 snaps. Gary every 12 snaps. Parsons every 7 snaps.
I’m wondering if Gary was injured. He had no sacks in the last 10 games, even with Parsons on the field.
Gary is the most overrated player in the NFL.
If I look back on this season and think of highlights. The #1 highlight is Parsons pushing Gary to the ground or out of his way chasing the QB. Because Gary is just a useless corpse on the field. I would spit my drink out it was so damn funny.
Williams looking like a stud.
Also, people are gonna drag LVN, but dude played, basically, half a season, and the last few games he was having to cover a lot of DL holes, too. This sub will hate it, but he’s likely going to get a second contract from GB in the next 12 months
Gary, Valentine, Nixon, LVN, Wooden would not start on any team in the league.
Valentine would have had like 4 picks if he had hands
