Imagine if we forewent signing Laravia and Ayton and brought this dude back instead. We’d be in an even worse spot than we are now, dude missed half of the season and is now looking cooked defensively and can’t shoot anymore.
At least Laravia is young and has room to improve even if Ayton is a stop gap for the year.

lol hes playing 15 minutes because hes competing against the deepest rosters in the league at his position and shooting 27% from 3 as a player whos averaging 38% over the last 5 years. also using 139 minutes of sample size and ppg to analyze one of the best defenders in the leagues impact isnt particularly useful

stats doesnt translate dfs game you need to watch his game we could use dfs right now in small ball line up. that small ball line. up was so good in regular season lmao especially teams with non big center
LaRavia is much better for this team the DFS post injury. Sure he’s up and down but his youthfulness alone and potential make him a better fit for this team. If this team can get a defensive anchor center and a 3nD wing we would be a title favorite. Unfortunately both of those positions are the most coveted role players in the league. We have to be better with drafting because with the current CBA that’s the only way to build a full cohesive roster. This offseason is going to be crazy with what they do.
He doesn’t get a bunch of minutes, I wish he was still here they would be a better team without a doubt. Think of some of the guys getting big minutes right now

Yeah that trade was made before Luka fell into our lap. DFS was supposed to support the LeBron AD duo for one last run, LAST year. He was part of the “all in” move people were begging for.

Yeah because he was an expiring and guess what? He’s old and has injury problems. He’s the 10th man on a team with guys that are younger and do what he used to do better than he does now.
There was no world where brining him back was the right thing to do. Maybe if we still had AD and the lakers made another WCF run with him as part of the crew but he’s an aging 3&D wing with injuries. I’d rather get off that type of layer early than late.
DFS is still playing hurt.
But this doesn’t change how big he was for us last year.
The DLo for DFS trade completely turned our season around last year and frankly our defense was way better last year even after AD was injured and then traded. A big reason was DFS’s presence on defense.
DFS fits LAL more than HOU. If he remained, then he would play way better.

This is so stupid. Rockets have a better record than us because of players like him playing. Danny Green and KCP didn’t fill up the stat sheet but they’re the reason we won a championship in 2020. DFS was great last year, but getting older and worse, Laravia youbg and getting better.
Box scores aren’t how you judge players like DFS. Not saying we should have kept him but he’s been a positive player for Houston.
