He played like shit but the internet might be over reacting a bit.

Different angle on Kat falling down play

  1. That angle makes him look even worse. He fell due to his usual clumsiness and then tried to cherry pick and couldn’t even due that right due to his own laziness lol

  2. Casuals made it sound like he was just laying down in the paint at the other end while play continued.

  3. you know, i think the NBA cup is detrimental to players mentality and stamina. he was playing much better in NOV

  4. He goes to (slowly) rejoin the team, then drops back in the event the Kings player reaches the loose ball first.

But to be fair, if he has to guard a streaking kings player a foul would likely occur.

  5. So, he fell w.o contact, but he wasn’t bitching and moaning for a foul like i thought he would. and apparently the floor was slippery. so, plus points for that.

negative points for not running back up the floor and letting it be 4v5, even if he was hoping to cherrypick. that’s just dumb and lazy and letting the team down.

  6. Is this supposed to make him look better? He’s still just standing there watching the play unfold instead of trying to get back on defense. If he gets his head out of his ass the rebound comes right to him and he can give it back to Kolek who is full speed ahead in the other direction. You know who saw the whole play last night? Mike Brown, who still called him out for being lazy as fuck and not crossing half court.

Congrats, he didn’t literally lay in the paint for 10 seconds. Hope that makes you feel better about his effort.

  7. I don’t blame him. I think you can see he didn’t have confidence the floor was dry and didn’t start running. Then the turnover happened and assumed the ball would get to him.

  8. I think it wasnt as bad. I thought he stayed on the ground complaining. He went back up and the only reason he stayed is him thinking that the Kings will get the rebound and he needed to be back in defense.

  9. Mike Brown will lose the locker room with his press conference remarks. He can point fingers privately without embarrassing his players publicly.

  10. I see what we see EVERY GAME! Atleast he didn’t use yelling at the refs as an excuse this time. This time he took a breather and dusted off his kicks after getting stripped, Smh. 7 footer floating between two 3-point arches. What are you seeing is the question?

  11. Yea this angle makes it look a whole lot better. Still not a great look though but I’ve seen worse.

  12. The degree to which people turn themselves into pretzels defending this dude night in and night out… He’s not a winner and never will be. It feels like its just us old dogs, desperate for this team to win that can see this, because I dont understand the degree to which people on this sub die on hills for this dude

  13. He’s just goofy. KAT is super frustrating but we need him to buy in and play hard and care about learning the defensive coverages. If he’s not playing with effort and conviction it’s a loss of productivity this team can’t afford. We’re an old team, with limited flexiblity and an even smaller window it’s pretty much boom or bust this season.

By next year we likely lose Mitch and Deuce and don’t have draft picks to fortify the roster. KAT is not a tradeable asset during the season. Something needs to click and provoke better performance more consistently out of him, assuming that he’s not simply washed and the league has passed him by.

  14. He was cherry picking. Unfortunately, it was a really long rebound. That made it so he was the one guy that could get us the possession. If he hustled back and a teammate secured the rebound he still might have gotten a fast break opportunity. It was a little bit of bad luck but also a bad play. He deserved heat for it even if he wasn’t just laying on the ground not caring like our more emotional fans would have you believe.

  15. ok this isn’t nearly as terrible as i thought it was. figured he was doing snow angels in the paint based on some reports.

  16. This was definitely a lazy play but he’s not known to be lazy. This would not have happened under Thibs

  17. The problem isn’t laziness, it’s that his favorite move is to drive to the lane wildly and often he falls down because he doesn’t have the best body control while driving.

Then even as quickly as he gets up the team will always be at a disadvantage.

In other words, it’s not a bug, it’s a feature in his mind. That’s his “game”

  18. This is really not that bad and I don’t think attitude or laziness is really KAT’s problem

  19. i don’t understand how people don’t think this is equally or even more damning than initially thought.

he was standing upright and able to cross halfcourt and decided instead to not only not cross halfcourt, but backpedal and cherrypick, while his guys fought for a rebound.

    pathetic effort and compete level

  20. Just shitty timing more than anything, it’s not an egregious play. Especially if he seemed to still have something slippery on his shoe.

  21. He did what he did the coach called him out and rightfully so, whether in finally the camera or behind the scene-he was held accountable. That’s it! Onward and upward.

  22. Anyone watching this and trying to say “it’s not that bad” is just being way too optimistic. This is crap and he hasn’t been good enough.

  23. this doesnt make him look any better – clearly a lazy play – all he had to do wqs comtinue to run up court to get back on D as any player knows to do and the ball wouldve been his easily. You dont back up and assume your team recovered the ball once the shot goes up, this isnt the YMCA this is the fukin NBA. makes me angry watching this.

  24. A million things to call KAT out for but I don’t think this is one of them.

He was getting up, saw the potential fast break off the block and made a decision (right or wrong) to try and be in position for that.

This isn’t like he was just being lazy, he just made a bad call based on the outcome

  25. At that angle, it looks less like a lazy play, and more like he badly misjudged that long rebound. He assumed NY was gonna get it and started backpedaling to be in position for an outlet pass.
