Tony D had a worse undeserved ego but I never understood promoting JT to the captaincy
I don’t think he played too much of a role in Tampa. He was certainly more prominent in Vancouver. Though, I still don’t think he was a good captain choice. I was rooting for Kreider/Mika through the years, and Mika/Trocheck for this season.
The fact the JT has the C sums up this org perfectly.
I get that you guys are mad but he’s the captain. He’s not going to call out guys and say the team is terrible. Of course he knows and other players know they have to be better but you can’t start singling out someone. Maybe some players don’t care but JT cares and probably thinks he needs to play even though he’s not fully healed

Why wasn’t Trocheck chosen as the captain. He plays the right way and I can’t imagine that he isn’t a loud, positive influence in the locker room.
Shannon (the Hockey Guy on Youtube who is a big Canucks fan) in his NHL panic index vid that just came out said when JT’s team is doing well, everything is fine but when things start falling apart he is miserable. Idk if you can have a Captain like that.

Last few years it was Mika. And his “worst contract in the league”. This year people are calling for him to be our captain.
People crucified Kreider, wanted Trouba out. Blamed Trouba for our two ECF exits. Now they’re saying he was a great Captain and we should’ve kept both.
Honestly. If Drury traded for Miller ONE season prior, we may have even beat Florida in the ECF (he was a 100pt guy that year).
Hate to break it to everyone. But Laf and Kakko not becoming stars are why we are here. We were supposed to have two young cornerstone stars. And a handful of solid veterans to support them.
Instead. One is gone. One stinks. And the vets are trying to carry it to no avail.
Imagine we go through a “full rebuild” like everyone here is calling for. And our highest two picks become Laf and Kakko level players? That’s what screwed us.
