NFL news: The Giants are hiring John Harbaugh as their next head coach, the top NFL HC candidate. I think this is a strong hire by the New York Giants: they should be more competitive now. Jim Leonhard could very well be a DC candidate for this job and perhaps others (including, but not limited to replacing Vance Joseph in Denver).

The Cowboys requested to interview Giants interim DC Charlie Bullen with that set to happen today. The Giants actually were not able to block Bullen because he’s got the “interim” tag. There’s a report he could return to the Giants as well.

Brian Flores has not (yet) interviewed with the Cowboys for their defensive coordinator job. While Mike Fisher has suggested that Jerry Jones has issues with potentially hiring Brian Flores, the Cowboys are very clearly in “Phase 1” of the interview process. The Commanders are not. Does Brian Flores really need to do a zoom interview with the Cowboys? Could “waiting” just be the move here?

For the past few years I’ve been making the joke about Jerry and Stephen Jones waiting ( hands in their pockets) at the subway train as train after train passes by. Then the lady at the reception desk asks them why they are still waiting and they reply that they are waiting for the last train. The last train left an hour ago she replied.
That has been their formula during free agency as well as searching for coaches.
