[Krawczynski] “I would just say like, yes, I think that they are trying to look at deals. I would even say I think that there’s a good chance they do make a trade before February. It’s just, I would be really surprised if it’s of the really big variety.”

  1. Good, if Joan pans out we should only seek out 1 bench player for very cheap. I would prefer Alvarado. If they feel Joan is not ready I would go for a backup defensive big.

  2. TC has to look at trades. Not necessarily cause they play bad – they dont, but to protect salary slots for the future and try to get the most out of this window as possible.

    Fact is:

    – this current window wont be open for very long (another 2 years max. Likely just 1)

    – letting Conley retire as a Wolf means losing his 11 mil salary slot permanently.

    – DDV is extension eligible and will be an expiring next season. So a decision on DDV has to made soon.

    – Dillingham, Conley, Miller, Ingles are pretty much dead weight salary wise. Thats 20+ mil just waisted on guys who cant have a role on serious contender come playoff time.
Trying to convert that dead salary into actual useful rotation player would be wise. Now and going forward.

    – a Randle/Reid trade can always be on the table when/If the right player becomes available. Likely thats not going to happen this trade Deadline but you never know…

Making a move is likely to improve roster construction.

1 or 2 smaller Deals to improve the bench can make a real impact come playoffs

  3. I have a feeling we already have a deal in place . Too many people too sure of a deal happening

  4. A good GM should look under rocks and look for value where they can. I don’t have a problem with this.

A move at the margins that increases our depth without ripping up the top 6 + Bones + Joan + Clark would be a great bump for the stretch run.

I do have an issue with big splashy “rip up the chemistry and vibes midseason” trades given this team’s performance this year.

  5. I really don’t want another Monte Morris type of deal. I’d rather bet on Bones, TJ, and Joan filling the various short term bench needs. If the new player isn’t going to be in a playoff rotation and gone in less than 2 years they aren’t worth trading for.
