Dodgers beat Mets to $240M star to keep stranglehold on MLB free agency

  1. So long 2027. It was fun while it lasted. Enjoy over spending 15 million dollar right fielder dodger fans.

  2. This has to end. I can’t believe I’m rooting for a full year lock out that will make the players cave, but that’s the only way to save this sport.

  3. $60M per year is insane. I remember the Phillies signing Harper to $30M per year a few years ago, and that number seemed super high at the time.

  4. These mid players brining in MVP numbers.

Machado still didn’t live up to his salary.

  5. Going to be hilarious and delicious when Dodgers win and there isn’t a lockout or it’s not as bad as haters would’ve wanted it to be for the Dodgers

  6. This was a fuck you contract to Toronto who had moved to within $36 M of the Dodgers with their recent FA signings. We’ll spend $60 M on one guy who was 49th in BA and 23rd in OPS in 2025, don’t think you can ever outspend us.

  7. I’m not really a baseball fan, this just popped up on my feed. Does anyone actually think having no salary cap is good for the sport?

  8. Time for the Mets and Yankees to start broadcasting in Latin America and use two continents as revenue streams. And baseball has to prohibit these sketchy salary accounting tricks. The Dodgers are making the Yankees look very good.

  9. The rest of the headline reads: “…and ensure a work stoppage after the 2026 season.”

  10. Will deferring all this money be a problem when the team eventually has lean years in the future?
