[Hughes] Stefanski is favorite for Falcons job

  1. People who act like getting Stefanski is not a win. Kubiak has Seattle rolling this season, but what has he done before that? Yeah, everyone wants either him or Mike McDaniel.

  2. Personally I would say he is a top 3 option. Definitely isn’t my favorite but there are worse options out there.

  3. Hes a beat reporter for the jets and the giants and hes pretty reliable for those teams

  4. Stefanski has given up play calling multiple times and that locker room looked like a disaster, I don’t understand the appeal.

  5. I’d love stefanski personally but alot of fans are immediately going to hate him because they think he was part of a Shadeur conspiracy they made up in their head.

  6. The talk up here in Seattle is that they are going to lose Kubiak to the Falcons.

Doesn’t mean it’s going to happen but if the choice *was* Stefanski, then why haven’t they already hired him?

    He’s available, right now, right?

  7. Good. Since you all want Kubiak so bad, you can find solace in the fact that Stefanski is from the Kubiak coaching tree.

  8. Working logically: Stefanksi is hirable today, if his preferred landing spot wanted him – a deal would be done. If he hasn’t signed anywhere, he’s waiting on a preferred destination to offer. That preferred destination presumably hasn’t offered to Stefanski, because their top option hasn’t accepted, who would most likely be playing this weekend.

That tells me one of two things: Stefanski is not our top option, or Stefanski’s top option is not us.

  9. Whether it’s Stefanski or Kubiak, I have to say we’re making significant improvements at the head coach position. I’m happy about it. And I sincerely hope they take this offseason seriously and improve the wr group, the Oline, the cornerback room, and a heavy DT for the run.

  10. I hope not.  If we go offensive we need a play caller.  Stefanski has given up calling plays due to struggles.  He is an upgrade from Rah and Zac, but not the guy imo.  Would rather have Kubiak, McDaniel, or a defensive guy like Minter.

  11. Stefanski would also open the door to getting Jim Schwartz as DC who has been great. Although keeping Ulbrich would be good too.

  12. This is different tune than “Kubiak is basically a done deal” we were hearing

  13. > NFL reporter for
    @SNYtv
covering Jets & Giants. Basically, I watch football, then write & talk about

    Sure

  14. I don’t think stefanksi is a good leader of men which was the most important thing to Matt Ryan.

Look at what happened when he had a falling out with baker. He had an injured shoulder and the best RB in the league at the time and stefanski called 50 pass plays that game.

Look how he’s been this year with his QBs. He’s stubborn and lets it affect the team.

All this talk about 2x coach of the year is stupid. He didn’t get it for being the best coach in the league. He got it for taking the Cleveland browns to the playoffs.

  15. I’d be ecstatic to get a coach with some auspicious coaching experience. Think the last non-Raheem coach we hired with formal NFL coaching experience was Dan Reeves in the 90s….oooff

  16. I do not understand why we would hire the coach of a horrible Browns team. Makes 0 sense regardless of what awards he’s been given.

  17. This would be a good hire IMO. Obviously depends on the rest of the staff but the guy can coach

  18. Stefanski being hired is a huge mistake. A winning franchise isn’t made of the Brown’s leftovers.

  19. What does the success rate for ex-coaches look like like?

The thing for me is, bottom “tier” teams is they are usually loaded with talent, it’s the coaching imo is where they are dysfunctional.

I don’t want dysfunctional left overs

  20. There’s literally 9 teams that needed a HC. So saying one of the other 8 teams get stefanski is like the most irrelevant “talk” ever.
