Like a moth to a flame. They just can’t stop themselves from adding corner outfielders who flashed promise once, years ago, but have been on a downward trajectory in recent seasons. I get that they’re trying to set themselves up for when (not if) they trade Robert, but they already have too many cheaper alternatives they could plug in the outfield.

They need outfielders, but Conforto is old and washed. There has to be a younger player somewhere who’s facing a roster crunch or something like that. This plan of “sign old guys so we can eventually trade them” is just a waste of time – they never get you anything worthwhile back in return.
