Carolina Panthers Season Review + 2026 Offseason Plan

The “Cardiac Cats” are back. After an 8-9 regular season and a thrilling NFC South title, the Carolina Panthers’ season ended just inches short in a 34-31 Wild Card heartbreaker to the Rams. But for Steve Smith Sr. and James Palmer, this isn’t the end—it’s the beginning.

In this full season recap and offseason preview, we break down the “blueprint” for turning this playoff team into a Super Bowl contender.

Inside the Episode:

*The Wild Card Fallout:* Steve and James discuss the grit shown against Los Angeles. How close was this team to the Divisional Round, and what were the 2-3 plays that would have changed everything?

*The Bryce Young Verdict:* With the 5th-year option officially picked up, we do a deep dive into Bryce’s Year 3 growth. Steve discusses the “timeline” for a long-term extension.

*The Rico Dowdle Dilemma:* After back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons, Rico Dowdle is a free agent. With Chuba Hubbard and Jonathon Brooks in the room, can the Panthers afford to bring Rico back? James shares the latest on Rico’s desire for a “lead back” role.

*Wide Receiver Evolution:* Jalen Coker has officially arrived. Steve discusses how Coker solidified himself as the clear WR2 alongside Tetairoa McMillan and what that means for the draft strategy at pick No. 19.

*Steve’s Defensive Wishlist:* Steve doesn’t mince words—the defense needs improvement. He explains why upgrading the Defensive Line and finding a shutdown Cornerback must be the priority in free agency and the draft to help Ejiro Evero’s unit take the next leap.

  1. I think we are a few off season moves and another leap year from Bryce away from really making some noise. Now that we got a taste of playoff football we are hungry for more. The roar is back in Charlotte. Keep Pounding!!!

  2. Jimmy Horn averaged under 10ypc this year and averaged 12.1ypc over his college career. Hes not a speedster. Bryce Young played with Jaylen Waddle and Jameson Williams, those guys are TRUE speedsters. Thats what this offence is missing. They should have traded a first round pick for Waddle.

  3. Let’s get rid of this lie that David Newton of ESPN started. XL DID NOT ride his horse “Dolla Bill” to the game Saturday. That was a local black cowboy and NOT Xavier Legette. He drove a car to the game like all the other players.

  4. 11:39 With Legette, it seems like he cares abt football, but he doesn’t understand how to put the footwork drills he’s practicing into his game. I’ve seen him quite a few times use “fancier” footwork in the wrong places. Imagine you’re hooping with someone, and they flip it off the backboard to pass to themselves while they’re practicing, but can’t pull it off in the game bc they don’t understand where to effectively implement that trick. Gotta catch the ball with 2 hands before you perfect the 1 handed catch. If that makes sense?

  5. Jimmy Horn should have had at least one of those RPOs…and deep passes quarters prior. Carolina shoukd have won that game…lost because of piss poor coaching!!! & thats facts
