Data goes back to '79-'80 season (the season the 3 was introduced, which is further back than what most people would consider "modern era"), only including players with a minimum of 82 3-point field-goals missed per 82 team games.

  1. Lots of people defending his contract on this sub but everyone knows if he had played like this last year he wouldn’t have gotten close to $25M/year. Would’ve been much closer to Thybull money.

  2. This just isn’t sustainable. Right now we have OO which means Dyson is the only non-shooter on the floor. But if we get the rim protector we need (most names I’ve seen suggested can’t shoot) then we will have two non shooters on the floor which is a death sentence in the current nba

  3. We got Zach lavine and a mildly aggravated Keon Ellis if yall are looking to part with that pels pick /s

  4. But he’s worth at least 5 1st round picks of imagine

    Because he’s 6’7 and plays D

    Smh

  5. Hawks problem not 3pt now. So just let him keep good at his main duties first. You can see an example of OO. He’s good 3pt shoot but no much benefit cause his main duties as C not good enough.

  6. Mientras Quin Snyder siga en el cargo todo empeorara, es como el caballo de Atila , por donde pisa no vuelve a crecer la hierba.

  7. I think it’s clear that they’re rebuilding his shot from the ground up. There’s no other explanation for going from a 34% shooter to 11%. Imma choose to trust the process because Dyson is fantastic at everything else

  8. It’s a real catch-22, because he knows his shot isn’t falling right now, so that’s why he’s hesitating to shoot them, but it also seems like that hesitation is exactly what’s causing him to miss so much because it’s throwing off his shooting rhythm. If you want a smooth catch-and-shoot jumper, you have to know you’re going to shoot it before you even catch it, while the ball is still on its way to you. But unfortunately, if you’re a sub-par shooter, that’s really hard to do, because you’ll always feel like you’re settling for a bad shot — unless you’re just one of those straight-up DGAF YOLO type of players.

All of which is to say, everyone always says he should be getting shooting tips from Kyle Korver, but maybe it’s actually Josh Smith who should be giving him a pointer or two about having enough delusional confidence to just let it fly regardless of his current shooting percentages.

  9. I still like him as a player despite this due to his defense and he does everything else at least decently offensively outside of having a jumpshot.

  10. He is a role player. He was a role player. And he will be a role player whatever happens. He shouldnt have been getting 25m/year. Just like Tari Eason, who is asking for 25m/year. But I guess the hawks front office bet on salaries going significantly up with a new media deal. Only then his contract will be reasonable. But if so, I dont really get salary dumping Trae. Only reasonable explanation is that there is a trade coming. Maybe kicking the pelicans pick back for Trey Murphy?
