This pmo. We need a culture shift. We’ve been soft since Mccarthy and probably longer. We don’t have the grit and toughness. That’s why teams like the Saleh 49er’s have walked over us. We need tough coaching and a culture shift badly
I’m so glad Mike Daniels is saying this because he’s my prime example when I say that we had Mike Daniels on our team and even then we were pussies.
Agreed
You don’t win the Super Bowl with 53 Choir Boys
I listened to this and he was kind of all over the place to be honest lol.
His was the first jersey I bought as an adult.
Love me some Mike Daniels.
Should have let him go Super Saiyan on our opponents.
He’s been saying this for a long time. I’d guess it was part of the reason he eventually got traded.
I mean, I legit can’t think of a season in the past 20 years where we’ve been a hard nosed, aggressive, chip on our shoulder team.
It’s like we think we’re above that. No one has an attitude, no one is mean, no one has swagger. And when they do, it’s reeled back in. Praying to God guys like Micah and Kraft start to shift that cultural mindset. Can our guys get mad? Are we tired of being labeled soft? Do something about it for the love of God.
I’ve kind of had this take for a while. You can see it when any other NFCN team beats the Packers. It clearly means more to them. I think this is just a symptom of “little brother” dynamics in rivalries. For decades obviously the Red Sox obsessed over beating the Yankees more than the Yankees thought about them. When the Packers fairly consistently put a better team on the field than the rest of the NFCN that desperation to beat the Packers usually doesn’t matter, but when one of the other teams is better, and the Packers can’t “get up” for the matchup like the opponent can, it doesn’t go well.
Idk how to fix that, but I’ve definitely noticed it.
SOFT SOFT SOFT and 1 more thing S.O.F.T
This is entirely correct. It’s obvious watching other teams that they have an attitude and killer instinct we lack. This is exactly why we lost to the 49ers and Giants so many times in the playoffs in the last 20 yrs! We need the players to have an edge & chip on their shoulder instead of being a bunch of nice guys.
LaFleur has a little too much Ted Lasso in him.
Worked at a grocery store he worked at in college. Remember looking down an aisle and this massive man is laying on his side stocking the bottom shelf. Killed me.
Not brawling after Hufanga shoved Love’s head into the ground was inexplicable. It was on our sideline and several teammates saw it. I’d have jumped in from the top ropes if that happened to any of my teammates much less QB1.
Spot on. Daniels had a great tweet when I believe Quay got ejected a few years back. Basically saying that he’d rather we have to tell guys to tone it down a bit rather than have to hype them up and I think about that a lot when I watch this team
Edit: found the tweet if anyone is interested https://x.com/i/status/1705242065649414322
Not great, Bob!
They get complacent easy. It makes sense because the team’s really young spiritually
So between Micah’s comments and Mike’s comments, we’re not only too soft but we’re also too lazy. It like we do the bare minimum and don’t do anything outside of run the plays to win. Idk, that kind of sounds like a coaching thing, I get the players are ultimately in charge of that, but it doesn’t seem like the coaching staff is bringing that mentality.
Can we hire Mike Daniels to be our hatred coordinator
Agree with everything he’s saying except the part where he says “it’s not a LaFleur thing.” This is 100% a coach issue. A coach with a hard nose no bullshit “we’re gonna kick ass and take names” style will bring that out is his team. MLF is soft as cotton and it shows in his players. I think Kraft and Parsons are the only 2 guys I’ve seen play with any attitude and heart.
Green bay: it just doesnt mean more
I feel that on defense. Drafting nice guys on offense is ok but on D you need a guy who is a little unstable or violent
It’s why I was never really upset with Quay’s penalties
However I think Parsons is the leader we need in the field and in the locker room
I remember Gilbert Brown saying “when the opposing offense broke the huddle and turned to see him, Reggie, Santana and Sean, you could see the fear on their faces”. Not only were they great players, they had swagger and a mean mentality. It helped that Fritz was on the sideline to tear them up for mistakes and not up in the booth.
I don’t disagree in general, but I always remember that this happened, one of the first in the series of meltdowns in the NFCCG against Seattle:
> Russell Wilson pass incomplete short middle intended for Jermaine Kearse is intercepted by Ha Ha Clinton-Dix at SEA-30 and returned for 26 yards. Penalty on Mike Daniels: Taunting, 15 yards
Instead of 1st-and-goal at the 4, GB started at the 19. And yeah, they got down the 1 and kicked a FG on 4th-and-goal, but maybe that drive is a TD if it started from the 4 instead.
I’ll also point out that the GB Packer who currently best embodies the culture that Daniels is asking for is probably Keisan Nixon. People don’t love his aggression when it gets a 15 yard penalty.
I’ve thought for a while now the entire team lacks fire and that is the thing that has led to them continually choking. It’s really from the coach on down. It’s like a culture thing at this point.
The quarterback should get pissed off. The coach should get pissed off. Everyone should play like they’re pissed off.
It’s really difficult to think of great Super Bowl winners who were just chill guys all the time.
On point. Nixon is a great example. He plays tough and fans butcher him for it
