They were never going after Caratini. The Yankees recent MO for catchers is defense > offense. Caratini doesn’t fit that mold. Besides, he has a career .674 OPS against lefties. Granted, he’s been better than that the past few years, but Houston didn’t seem to trust him enough against lefties last year.
