    But: The astounding take that all of these guys, to a man, would have preferred that the Lions lost their last game to the Bears merely to improve the Lion's draft position is, to me, cuck-ass piss-antery. It's coming from a place of wanting the Lions to have a more favorable draft position, understood, but it's tantamount to saying that you want grown-ass men, who have dedicated their heart and soul to performing their very best this season should tank. Oh?

    So what are you saying, exactly? How is that done?

    Presumably, what you're suggesting is the Lions should've rested alla their starters and taken a whipping. Right? (Am hoping you're not suggesting the starters, proud humans all who wanna win, should intentionally play badly.)

    So what happens when the Lions put their reserves in and lose to Ben Johnson by a score of, say, 44-3? Are you really contending that you wouldn't have the exact opposite reaction you're putting out now? I call bullshit.

    Dan wants to win. His team wants to win. They hadda disappointing season, every-fucking-one knows that, but are you really suggesting that the Lions should've tanked by playing their reserves merely to improve 3 draft positions?

    Here’s the reality.

    From 13 to 20 you have about a 20% chance of finding an all pro.

    The fanbase is obsessed with defensive linemen and STILL think Holmes is going to get another pass rusher at 13 he won’t at 17.

    In reality he wouldn’t take another rusher there anyway. He is going to find a guy like Jack Campbell or a G or C or T nobody likes.

    I don’t know why fans do this to themselves. They took Hutchinson and paid him. He will be the primary edge here. Once you get over the fact they’re not missing on an edge (because they won’t draft one) you really can’t look at the middle of the first and think they messed anything up.

    They’re going to miss on the elite Ts whether they pick 13 or 17. Those guys don’t last past 10.
    They’re not taking a QB. Even if one falls
    17 is a fine place to consider a G or C

    Beyond that I’m not sure what the wailing is about.

21. There was no reason to pay all them guys early now it's coming back to buy us. We still have plenty of money to spend, but we got some crap contracts that we're stuck in. There's just no reason to sign these guys early cause now you ate up a bunch of money by doing thatthose guys were not going anywhere.

This off season is going to say alot about the direction this regeme is headed. And 27 off season win say alot about shela and the lions organization. If winning a SB is the goal for the near furture. If we miss the playoff next season because of lack of talent and coaching, time for a new GM and possibly head coach.

25. I hope Brad Holmes doesn't become the new "Russ Thomas" from the William Clay Ford Sr. era for the Sheila Ford Hamp era. If you're a long-time Lions fan stubborn Russ Thomas ran the Lions into the ground, year after year after year after year and William Clay Ford Sr. refused to fire him and this is the reason the Lions organization is so dysfunctional today.

28. I think Ben won by losing. Losing did not hurt the bears in any way. Winning ultimately hurt the lions and the win was meaningless. Lions needed to look beyond that game , play it safe playing the practice squad thus protecting you assets, and get the best draft positions you can to build for next year. Let the practice squad pay to win.
